Best viewing device for mobile app - iOS vs Android app

Hey guys - i currently set up 9 POE cameras connected to an NVR in my house and plan on using a new tablet to display all 9 cameras at once. From your experience,
1) which operating system (andriod vs iOS) works the best with reolink mobile app and which brand/model device are you using?
2) I have an old mini ipad (gen 1) that keeps closing the app after a couple minutes of showing the screen. Any fixes to this?
3) Pros and cons using mobile app vs viewing locally through router port forwarding, etc.?
