Argus - Notifications not working reliably on Samsung S7 Edge
-
Hi there,
after several weeks of trying to get notifications to work i am open for any suggestions!
What i have done so far:
- Connected the Argus to a WiFi-Router nearby (Full-WiFi-Signal is available)
- The Android-APP on my S7 Edge is excluded from Power Saving + Battery Optimizations and so on..
How ever ..
- If i enable Push .. the Notifictions work for approx. 30m ~ 2h .. after that i receive the Notifications-Mails but no more Push-Notifications.
The Support-Staff in the Play-Store told me i should email them ... i email'd them and they told me that the S7-Edge needs special Device-Patches to get this done.
I asked them why all the other Apps like WhatsApp work ... they say .. they have thos special patches implemented ...
Well i am a Developer my self and i don't believe in "Special Patches"
Is there anything i can do to debug / improve that situation ... ?!
My next step is to use adb to look whats happening in the background .. i guess somehow the app is stopped or crashed ..
any tips? -
okay after several hours of debugging .. i can clearly say ..
the app is not crashing and its not in standby ..
so what happend?
- i left my phone for several hours on the table and waiting for the moment the notifications stop.
- when the notifications stopped ..
- i watched the adb-log and see .. the app is still up and running ... and not inactive
- i started WireShark and noticed that the Argus-Camera-Device is not sending any UDP-Broadcasts (triggering the APP to Ring)
- To Verify that the Camera is the Problem ... is used an Fire Tablet and started there the ReoLink-App .. triggered the Camera ... and still on the S7 nothing Happens ...
- I enabled the Push-Notifications on the Fire Tablet ... Well Magic things now happend
- The Argus started sending UDP-Messages again .. and both devices show the push-notifications again
Conclusion:
- A Bug in Argus Firmware stops the Notification-Tiggering-UDP-Broadcasts .. Notifications are send again after triggering the Push-Notifiction-Switch (just opening the app on the second device did not renable the push-notifications) ...
