Is there a way to have motion detection show a time stamp on my playback bar?  I'm recording 24/7 and I'd like to have the ability to look back on a motion event without watching hours of playback.

Well, you can also click on “Detail” to select a day on the date list, and a specific video clip on the timeline to play. Then you would not have to watch hours of playback for finding the moment you want 🙂

Yes, I know how to play a video on a specific date and time.  I want to see on the timeline when motion occurs.

Oh Brian, that can be accessed if you select "Motion" in the drop-down list of "Video Type". Then you click "Play" then you can go to the playback interface with motion timeline. Try it out.

              Thank You!

I just pulled it up on the DVR and see exactly what I need.  Do you know if you can do this using the Mac or Windows programs?

On the Windows software- Client, when you choose "Playback","Remote playback" on the upper left, then on the right down side also appears a "Type". See the snapshot here. Does the same trick just as on NVR.

Thanks for all your help.  I've got it working on the windows client, now I'd just like the option on my Mac since that's what I primarily use.  I just got an email saying a new version was out (not yet on the download page) so maybe it'll be there now.

                    Hi brian402

For Mac client, you may also choose the recording type among "alarm", "manual" and "schedule", refer to:

Check the recording type you want accordingly.

Thanks,  I've tried that but motion events won't show as an alarm for some reason.  I have motion detection scheduled for 24/7 yet no alarm marks on the timeline.

Brian, I think you missed the step of going to NVR (see attached pic) and set recording based on motion(cover with green grids). After that you can have alarm marks on the timeline on Mac Client.

Thanks Howdy but I didn't miss that one. That's the only way I can get it to work with the Mac client. In the windows client and NVR interface, you can continuously record and see motion events on the timeline. I'd like that ability in the Mac client.
