I guess this answers my question from here https://reolink.com/topic/nvr-motion-detection/ Add another vote from me. I'm planning on keeping the NVR in my attic or garage so local access is not an option.

It highlights motion fine on the NVR when I use the search button, but this only gives me 1 hour chunks of video. If I choose play on the NVR or use the windows client it does not have motion highlighted at all but will show me the whole date range I select. I'm on the latest firmware and client, is there any plans to change this?

I'm considering the purchase of a Reolink NVR+cameras. I'm wondering if the NVR software will highlight areas in recording timeline where motion has been detected if 24x7 recording is enabled to easily tell when things have occurred?
