@derek-breydin_696784043594396 It might be that the CPU is getting overheated and shuts down. Just for testing. Do you have A/C? Can you put the doorbell in a cooled area?
I stay in Scotland where the climate is not very warm, the door bell is installed outside and its only around 20 degree celcius at the moment. Support came back to me and have asked a few questions so have replied, will wait for a repsonse.
@derek-breydin_696784043594396 Another test would be to use the substream. I guess you are on the latest firmware.I told support to implement logging and core dumps export to assist you in troubleshooting. This is what I used to do when deploying applications to customers.
Hi Joeseph, I am still waiting on support coming back to me, Frigate utilises both streams, the main stream for record and the sub stream for object detection, I have tried using both the sub stream and main stream individually but have the same problem from both. The door bell is on the latest firmware, I removed the door bell from Frigate completely last night and I can see the reboots havent disappeared but they are a lot less (It might not be a reboot as such but looks like there are multiple link down events on my switch for this devices) which tells me its either rebooting or losing connection and thats why I am seeing drops from Frigate when the door bell is used. For 24 hours I was usually having around 30 link down events, overnight I have had 3 link down events so certainly it looks like the reboots\disocnnected are invoked more when using the HTTP or RTSP Streams for the doorbell, I am wondering if the door bell maybe isnt powerful enough (CPU\RAM) to handle the streams in real time for a long period???
@derek-breydin_696784043594396 I suggest you to re-open a ticket with Reolink support. Try to get the doorbell inside and repeat the scenario.
Hi Joespeh, I have opened a ticket with support, I have tried the doorbell both inside\outside with different cables but the reboots still happen. I am happy with the doorbell apart from the odd reboot.
Some info that may help, I moved from an RTSP stream to HTTP and it looks like the reboots are not as frequent but do still happen from time to time.
You are certainly not alone with your issue as I recently purchased a Reolink POE doorbell and started using it with Frigate.I suspected the door bell was rebooting as I can see in my POE switch that the door bell logs a link down event and those link down events coincide with the disocnnection events I see in Frigate. For me I am not convinced its heat related as I stay in an area where its only been around 20 degree celcuis and I can see that the door bell rebooted around 2 hours ago and its nightime not that warm at all, I think the camera is failing to maintain a constant stream, I am using the HTTP stream rather than rtsp.
