Hi CynthiaAre Snap and Search the only HTTP cgi-bin commands by cgiserver on the camera?Thought I saw also something for downloading recordings....BTW: I do not need the rs parameter....and Snap supports snap_widht/snap_height which isn't in your API reference..cheersrichard
Good morningIn another thread I asked if it was possible to take snapshots externally so it could be launched for example from a cron job taking pictures at specific intervals...Interestingly the only answer I received that there a specific cameras who store interval shots onto SD card...but that was not my question at all (o;Oddly Reolink has a support entry for this....but not fully documented...What works for me so far is (with a RLC-520):wget -O image.jpg "http://192.168.178.46/cgi-bin/api.cgi?cmd=Snap&channel=0&&user=admin&password=password&width=800&height=600"You can leave out the snap_width/snap_height parameters to get a full resolution snapshot.here are a lot more cgi-bin commands available....but no documentation available....I'll list some more if I've found something new (o;cheersrichard
wget -O image.jpg "http://192.168.178.46/cgi-bin/api.cgi?cmd=Snap&channel=0&&user=admin&password=password&width=800&height=600"
Hello CynthiaHmm..there is already a command built into the cameras:https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007011233-How-to-Capture-Live-JPEG-Image-of-Reolink-Cameras-via-Web-BrowsersWorks like a charm (o;BTW: Are there other commands documented for the cameras? This suggests that there must be more:http://192.168.2.119/cgi-bin/api.cgi?cmd=Snap
Hello CynthiaDon't have any RLN8-410 yet....Was just confused about the specs in your product page saying decoding h264 only for the 4K model...Thanks for the feedback...richard
Hello CynthiaThanks for the heads up Really love your cameras...as they are just incredible value for the money...BTW: Is there any feature in the camera firmware like take a snapshot at a specific time every day or can it be triggered from the outside?
I thought of going the NVR way...but here in \.ch they are selling the old non-4k models for a high price...at least no one mentions the exact model....but this model numbering is a general problem with Reolink (o;The RLN devices would be nice if they had a SFP port as well for the cameras to extend the cabling...as at a certain point fibre is cheaper and more reliable than copper.....Otherwise I end up with 6 to 8 * 50m STP cables which adds around half of the camera costs...Also tried some open source Linux NVR solutions....but no one is really reliable or useful in real life....either with the rtsp implementation of Reolink or with feeding dual main/sub streams from a p2p2rtsp proxy...All rtsp Reolink feeds tell that it is always 29.97 fps, regardless of the settings....so only a p2p proxy seems to be a reliable solution so far on Linux...but current NVRs are rubbish..at least true for bluecherry, zoneminder and shinobi...
Some other important features would be:- Delete individual recordings on the microSD card in the camera- Mark a recording on the microSD card as undeletableWonder why on the mobile client animated screenshots are available.Though when you switch cameras it shows the previous screenshots until new ones are downloaded...On the desktop clients it is hard to select a specific recording on the microSD card for playing back...
Good afternoon (o;Been using some Reolink cameras for few weeks now together with different client apps and here some feedback/thoughts which also go into the app store reviews...macOS client App:- Why the heck has the software developer not implemented the feature that after restart the application the window size and position will be remembered???- And speaking of: why has the macOS version no option to not stretch the camera feeds? On Windows version there is the option to keep the aspect ratio.Windows client App:- Also here it doesn't remember the window size and position on next start. A feature almost every software knows of!!!- Last version is from 31.12.2020...and 32 Bit only. Really 32bit??? It is 2021 already now (o;iOS/Android client app:- Why is there no "always landscape" mode? It is really annoying when you want to watch several streams at once, but when changing settings it switches to portrait mode.- Only 2 x 2 layout for multiple streamsIt would be great if the mobile app would have the same layout as the Windows client version in landscape mode...Others than that..so far the Windows client version seems to be the best implemented client version, despite the 32bit version only...cheersrichard
Good morningIn the specifications of the RLN8-410 the decoding capability during play back is h.264....But to my knowledge the D800 delivers a h.265 3840x2160 stream.....so recording of a D800 can't be played back?At least with a Reolink proxy daemon I see in VLC the stream as h.265 with 16 bit pcm audio...thanks in advancerichard
Excellent...many thanks
Hello CynthiaDo you have a screenshot of how it looks now when viewing more than 4 cameras?thanks in advancerichard
Good afternoonLet's say I have a storage room where I need to place cameras further away than 20 or 30 meters...can I just connect to one of the PoE ports a switch and connect more cameras there?I assume those 8 ports are internally connected to a 100MB switch fabric, so any device connected sees all other devices there....Anyone done this before?Or would the RLN8-410 also discover and accept cameras connected via the WAN port?thanks in advancerichard
Is this then an old manual for the RLN8-410?he screenshots shows that only 4 cameras can be viewed at a time....rln8_nvr.png
Good afternoonLooking through the NVR 3.1 manual to get some clue about the RLN8-410 user interface...In there I see this:- Four-Camera View: Divides the screen into four viewing windows, each showing images from onecamera.So..Is this really the absolute limit to show only 4 cameras at once on the screen? That is really a show stopper when having 6 or 8 cameras....cheersrichard
Good afternoon (o;After testing several open source NVR solutions I would like to know from RLN8/RLN16 users about their experience as the specs/datasheets aren't clear to me...- What does the "can play 4 synchronous streams" mean for the RLN8-410?- Is that in live view I only can watch 4 streams?Currently already have 3 RLC-520 cameras and think about getting some more for our shop/online store facility.- Are the RLC-520 cameras compatible with the RLN8/RLN16 models?- Is the recording done in full resolution and framerate set in the camera? So 2560x1920 @30fps?- Can I attach an UHD 3840x2160 monitor to both models (RLN8/RLN16) ?thanks in advancerichard
Good afternoon (o;Did a small camera holder which can be clamped on a 25mm diameter waterpipe....You just need to screw the little plastic part with the two lids where the camera snaps in with a turn...Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4686326Design done in FreeCAD 0.19 and printed on Ender-3 with ASA for better endurance and UV stability....cheersrichardIMG_1886.jpegIMG_1887.jpegIMG_1888.jpeg
Good eveningTesting currently new cameras for a surveillance system in our shop and storage room...being E 1 Pro, Zoom and the RLC-520...For the past days since I have them the E1 Pro and Zoom constantly aren't reachable anymore from specific hosts...Sometimes I can't reach/ping them from several PCs but still able to use the Reolink app...and on the other hand I can reach/ping them from one host but able to reach them from the app on iPhone or iPad...I assume some memory corruption on the hardware loosing IP/ARP information to reply back...From my experience I never experienced such rubbish firmware that it fails constantly everyday!!!I hardly believe that this was the reason to implement the weekly reboot in the firmware by means that it might help to regain connectivity...So I spent money on useless hardware for any surveillance job and will therefore publish on major shop sites here that people should stay from the E1 Pro and the E1 Zoom hardware as they are totally useless for the job....cheersrichard
Hello CynthiaThat's excellent news So kinda christmas present (o;cheers and a nice sundayrichard
HelloThough the difference between the E1 Pro and the E1 Zoom is just the zoom function...But see following missing in the E1 Pro:- No FTP Upload functionality- Not accessible via web browserHas this something to do with memory limitations or will it be included in the future?cheersrichard
HelloBought 3 cameras for testing a NVR system here...- E1 Pro- E1 Zoom- RLC-520But why does the E1 Zoom has a web page which requires a flash plugin to play videos???How old is this camera/firmware?C'mon....flash player is looong dead....cheersrichard
