Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread - did you find an answer to this?
I bought an RLC-410s and a Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z cam to evaluate. Each with its advantages, but Reolink's web interface works much better on my Linux desktop.
So I'm thinking about a hybrid cam setup + Reolink NVR... if it's not more trouble than it's worth. Basic record, preview, motion alert triggers (via ONVIF) with the Dahua cam would be more than good enough, even if the advanced features don't work.

RE: RLN8-410 NVR questions (internal HDD, IP cam compatibility)
The HDD inside of the NVR can be replaced with your own. It can be no more than 4TB. It is not used to store any part of the NVR firmware, so no worries about this part. The HDD need to be pre-formatted into format ext3.
Thanks for the details. -
RLN8-410 NVR questions (internal HDD, IP cam compatibility)
Hi,
If the internal HDD needs replacing in the future, can a standard drive be fitted? What is the maximum size for any internal drive?
Some NVR product listings say "ONLY for Reolink PoE IP Cameras". Does this mean that the NVR is designed specifically not to work with other manufacturer's cameras, or just that Reolink won't offer any support? -
RE: Searching For Motion Alerts
This is an important feature for me since I'd be recording 24/7. Ideally, it'd be viewable in the web interface not just the Windows/Mac client software.
It could be something as simple as a list of the events. One for each camera. The user double-clicks on each event and the video starts playing from the time index.
This is one key thing holding me back from getting a Reolink NVR.
For now, I could set up a local FTP server at home and have each camera record the motion events to it, which would at least make it easy to browse through. But if I wanted to see just before or after an event, I'd have to manually go and find it in the 24/7 recordings. So still not ideal. -
RE: Disabling IR on RLS-410/410S/410WS
This is an important feature for me.
I'm a bit disappointed to hear it's a hardware limitation on most of the current range of cameras:
"Other models do not support to disable IR lights because of hardware limit as you mentioned."
https://reolink.com/topic/issues-that-reolink-has-not-resolved/#post-27688
I was hoping to point a cam through a window and use a separate IR lamp outside. Obviously this won't work if the internal IR can't be turned off. The camera will be blinded by the reflection.
Please add this as a future option.
