I didn't like the idea of just having recordings on the SD card in the camera pending getting a DVR, so it dawned on me that I should be able to record to a Synology NAS I have for some other uses. It then dawned on me that I could have it back up to the cloud backup service I use. The path is through the computer, so it shouldn't work when the computer I am using is not on, have not verified that, but I have a couple that stay on all the time, so I should be able to get a good back up with one of them. The cloud service I use will backup files in real time which probably imposes some drag somewhere, somehow, but it is nice to reduce the chance of data loss. Brent Spiner would be appalled it that happened.
Not sure if that will help anyone else, but the more places I can keep data, the more comfortable I am.
