IR illuminator and distance

Hi,

I have a Reolink E1 zoom and I can't use the integrated IR led because it's behind a window So I only see the reflect of the IR led.
I want to add a IR illuminator outside of the house but I want to be sure to buy the right IR illuminator. How can I calculate the power needed depending on the distance of the area to watch?
