Question about 24/7 recording
-
Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge but I purchased the reolink RLC-410W cams and would like to record 24/7 video not just motion clips. Can this be done with a Mac Mini and an external drive connected to the Mac Mini?
I don't use the Mini very often and would like to put it to use if it can be done. -
I have the question - just purchased 2 RLC-522 and want them capturing 24/7 to NAS on local network

You can refer to https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000628566-How-Can-I-Have-My-Reolink-Camera-Record-to-My-NAS

I have looked at that but I don't have the same options on my Mac client as shown in that article. I have attached screen shot so you can see. Only the Motion option appears to be selectable. I am using version 8.1.20

Sorry that our article may be a little old since we release the new client currently. We are still working on this. You can click "Timer" to set the continuous recordings.

I have tried to select "Timer" but it doesn't seem to do anything - no colour change of the button? Am I missing something?

The camera itself does not support the continuous record, so the setting on the client will only set up the record schedule for the SD card. If your NAS is a regular NAS or a network hard disk, you may use FTP to upload videos to your NAS/hard disk. Please refer to this link: https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900003742746

Well that is disappointing!! I bought these 2 cameras so that I would have 24/7 recording and alerts when there was an alarm condition.

Is it convenient for you to set an FTP? You can upload the continuous recording to the FTP server.
