cant scrub threw the recorded video

Once the video is recorded to either the SD card or to my FTP server and I play the movie by double-clicking the file, I cannot scrub/fast forward/skip thru the video. I have to watch the whole clip in real time. I have tried a couple different video players. It seems to be with how the video is encoded. If I convert the video file, I am able to skip thru the video without any issue, but that is a pain to have to convert each file.

May I know from which version did you convert the files into which?
