The File Encryption feature was introduced in response to customers' demands for encrypted security cameras, it is integrated into the Reolink Home Hub and will be extended to other products in the future.

      What is File Encryption?
File Encryption is a built-in technology that encrypts your video recordings, ensuring that only you can access them. This means even if someone tries to remove the SD card or hard drive to view your footage on a computer, they’ll need to enter the correct password. It adds an extra layer of protection, especially if your Home Hub is lost or stolen.
      How Does It Work?

      • Encryption in Action: When enabled, every new video is automatically encrypted. If someone resets the hub or tries to bypass it, the stored recordings remain locked.
      • Password Barrier: Without the correct password, accessing your past recordings—even via the app after a reset—is impossible.

      Quick Setup Steps:

      1. Open the Home Hub settings in the Reolink app and select “File Encryption.”
      2. Enable the feature by entering your default admin password and tap “Confirm.”
      3. Set a strong password (at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters) along with a password hint. Once saved, all new recordings are encrypted.
      4. To disable encryption or reset the code, simply use the “Close” or “Reset Code” options (again, verifying with your default admin password).

      A Few Reminders:

      • The encryption password is crucial—if you forget it, you won’t be able to decrypt your videos.
      • Once set, the encryption code is remembered by the app unless the Home Hub is reset to factory settings.
