Issue with scheduling Motion Detect and Alarms

I purchased my system in early May of 2020. It is a 8CH NVR RLN8-410
2 x 5MP Cam RLC-410, 2 x 5MP Cam RLC-520 set up.
Here is my issue.
I want to do 24/7 motion detection with recording to NVR of triggering events on all four channels.
I only want Push Notifications or Email alerts sent to me from 2300-0600 on three of the channels, the fourth channel views a side street that has traffic round the clock and for this reason I do not want Push Alerts or Emails sent at any time.
Under the recording schedule I have all four channels set up with green blocks in every block.
Under the alarm schedule I have red blocks from 2300-0600 and white blocks from 0600-2300.
I get Emails faithfully from 2300-0600 whenever there is motion detected.
However from 0600-2300 the NVR never records any events, even though I am in and out and around the property all day. I should get numerous events.
I have been told that the alarm must be set to all red 24/7 if I want motion detection to work.
What is the purpose of the "Recording" schedule if that is the case? I don not want to be flooded with emails telling me I just went in and out my front door.
I believe my NVR is not accessing the "Recording" schedule for some reason and is only referencing the alarm schedule for its operation.
Can someone enlighten me? -
