Hi...newbie postHoping someone can help with a bit of guidance.Current setup:RLN8-410 NVR4x RLC 810A cameraI currently have two of the four cameras installed on my house, connected to the NVR and working fine.I have a separate garage building that I want to add one or two more cameras to. I have wi-fi enabled in the garage using two Ubiquiti Nano M5's - one at the house to boost the signal to the one at the garage which then feeds into a router configured as an access point. This diagram hopefully shows the layout a bit better - green is what is currently configured and working, red is just indicating the two cameras I'm looking to add to the garage. I don't currently have any cable ducts going from the house to the garage, I would need to dig up about 40m of hardcore to get access to an existing cable run into the house if I want to have the garage camera cables going back to the NVR. I suppose I could get the wi-fi version of my camera and connect that to the NVR - I [censored]ume that is possible although it means spending more money...I have also noticed that the Ubiquiti Nano devices have a secondary ethernet port and apparently that can be used for PoE connection of a camera, however I'm wondering how the NVR would find the new camera.So I guess I'm looking for any ideas or suggestions on how to get the garage cameras connected to the existing nvr setup without having to spend too much more than what I already have.Thanks in advance.Gary
@gary_n_491833478709415 Hi Gary, your plan to install the cameras in the garage shall work. As the two Ubiquiti Nano M5 is under the LAN that the NVR is connected to, the NVR shall find the cameras in the garage.You may try to set up the cameras in the garage and let us know if you need any help.
@reolink-lorenz Hi, thanks for the reply. There is two separate wifi networks between the house and the garage but yes they are both reachable for the relink nvr. I actually just bought a separate 48v POE injector and connected the camera in the garage to that and to the garage router. I was able to then get the camera seen by the reolink console, didn't even need to search for it, it showed automatically, which is great. That means I can continue adding more cameras to the garage now, perhaps I'll get a POE switch rather than use individual injectors.Thanks againGary

Hi I've started looking into a home camera system and have come across this thread. I have a similar situation. My garage is also detached from my house. I was led to believe that the each camera had to be plugged into the NVR separately and directly. Is this not the case? From looking at this thread it looks like your plugging in 2 cameras from the garage into a POE switch then basically connecting that POE switch to the router. Is this the correct? If so this would make it much easier for me.I would have the same but the POE switch in the garage would connect to my router via a cat6 cable that is running between the house and the garage
Hi @chattoe_504136247443627, you don't have to connect the cameras separately and directly to the NVR. Just make sure that the PoE switches are under the same network and the NVR will find all the cameras within LAN. Just make sure that you won't run CAT6 cables over 80 meters/260 feet. Hi Gary ..i have a similar setup ..but a little more complex .. 16 cameras .. mix of poe and wireless reolink models (5mp/ 8mp/ 12mp) and 2 poe 8 port switches and dedicated ftp server for backup .. all cameras maxed 256gig sd cards .. (plus compe[censored]or 8 wireless camera cctv .. but sucks on playback .. and 2 more analog cctv cameras 3rd cctv system .. should really phase out) .. anyhow .. my tidbits .. try to stick to wired poe .. i find my wireless reolink cameras .. when disconnected are abit of pain to reconnect .. sometimes i have to reconnect lan cable to establish connectivity .. then switch over to wireless .. then working) .. as for the garage and ubiquiti with 1 port poe .. id recommend connecting ubiquiti to router lan port .. then not necesarily adding poe boosters per poe camera ..but 4 or 8 port dedicated poe switch .. $60-80 now a days .. the switch ensures poe power is provided to poe cameras so you just have to ensure cat6 patch capability .. even with 4 poe ports .. you have the scalability to add even 2 more cameras later .. AND should you go crazy like me .. upgrade the poe switch simply by swapping out larger poe port switch .. re: 8/16port .. for more poe cameras or ptz poe hungry ones .. As regarding the capability of the nvr detecting the other poe camera .. more than likely it is on the same network (subnet) as the nvr .. and somewhere on your network (probably first router) dhcp service is broadcasting .. allowing for any new devices to establish network connection (re: given an ip address) ... i've reverted all of my cameras once setup back to static vs dhcp .. as i have experienced hiccups disconnecting my wireless units and it has been a bit of a headache trying to reconnect them at times .. in the future .. i'd stick with wired poe as response time of viewing from pc/cell is much quicker and very few technical hiccups .. plus i have setup an ftp server to regularly backup high resolution video/pic files .. i just have to ensure free drive space is adequate ..hope this helps.
