I am beyond frustrated. I am trying to record all triggered motion to a Western Digital 2T My Book and need a basic "how to" from some kind sole out there. I have 2 RLC-410Ws cams. When I turn on recording in the upper right windows it just does a continuous recording not a motion detected recording.

        Hi dwa6958

The "recording in the upper right windows" you mentioned is local recording.

To record motion videos to local (which here is your external HDD):
1, please setup the record path to your external HDD in "Recording Setting".

2, click "Record Schedule" to enable and schedule motion recording.

***Please make sure to cover the time table using green shade, which means record when motion detected.

3, customize other recording settings as you like.
4, click "OK" to save all settings in each steps.

That is exactly what I have done but it does not record anything. If I hit the record button in the upper right it will start a continuous recording.

            Hi dwa6958
            I think you misunderstood.
If you make sure that you have enabled and scheduled motion detection recording as mentioned, then once camera detects motion, it will start to record automatically.
No need to hit the record button manually again after setup if you want motion record only.
Hitting the record button manually starts continuous recording no matter there is motion or not instead of motion record.

Here are the screenshots of my settings. They are exactly as you have shown above. The camera will record to the SD card but not to the external drive and I cannot get the recordings off of the SD card.

Hi, will it record to your local drive based on motion detection if you set the recording path as local drive? Or it only fails to record to your external drive_Western Digital 2T My Book ?

                  Hi dwa6958

                  Thank you for you information.
1, please confirm again that motion has been enabled.

2, please make sure you keep your PC awake all the time when you set record path to your PC local.Otherwise, recording to local will stop when PC in sleep mode or shut down etc.
3, please try change the record path to one of your PC disks to check if it is a problem with the external drive.

I have tried making a folder on the desktop and changed the record path to there but no luck with that at all. The PC does not go to sleep ever unless I shut it right down.
