I do not want to use a router, I simply want to separate the box from the wires and use a powered switch instead. Since the cameras plug directly into the NVR through it's built in switch, is there really a difference if I just plug them into a switch and then plug the switch into the box with only 1 wire.
Hopefully someone here can help me out. I have the 8ch NVR with 7 cameras currently. I want to place my NVR in a place that is away from all of the cable coming from the cameras. Does anyone know if it would work to plug all cameras into a POE switch and then just run a single cable from the NVR to the switch? Thanks
QuellaThank you so much for your reply so quick. In regards to the cameras they are a mix between the 410 and 420 I think the model numbers were. They do not have zoom but I am looking to use the digital zoom that is available if you are using the NVR directly and not in the app. The windows version of the software looks like it has it but not the mac client. The web browser access would be nice because I have my NVR tucked away so it is not easy to use it directly and browser access would provide the options that I need that are not available in the mac client. such as the digital zoom and also the ability to change the channel of the cameras etc.
Sorry everyone, not sure which forum to post this in. I just purchased 7 outdoor cameras along with the 8ch NVR. So far I love the system but there are some things that I cannot figure out. First off everything is setup properly and working great. First problem-I am using only MAC and when using the client software there is no optical zoom and no fast forward or rewind when using playback. Second-problem-When I use safari and try access the NVR by typing in the IP address it says document error:not found even though it pings perfect. Third problem-I don't know how to fix the first 2 problems Can you all help please
