Like many people that pre-ordered the Argus 3 cameras, when setup, I was plagued by having to constantly tweak the settings to avoid false alarms. If you live a very static environment and don't deal with those issue, that's great. However, for those of us like me who live in environments that are very dynamic, these cameras are pretty much unusable. I live on the west coast of Florida on the water, so reflections of the sun off the water trigger alerts, plus in coastal environments there is constant wind, so palm trees constantly set it off, etc. And yes, I have spent hours moving cameras to different locations and tweaking the settings (I have 4 of these). They are just no good in these types of environments since they use pixel based detection. So now, Reolink is coming out with the Argus 3 Pro, that instead of pixel based detection, it uses person/vehicle detection. Wonderful...I spend nearly $500 on these cameras and solar panels, and now they are coming out with these! Obviously, this really makes me lose my confidence in Reolink and wonder why they just didn't have this in the original Argus 3. I would understand if it were a year later, but I've had these camera for a month or so. This would make anyone upset.Reolink -- What are you going to do for those of us where these cameras do not work in our environment and now see you are working on the Pro version? I understand Reolink doesn't have to do anything, but come on...Will there be a software upgrade for the Argus 3? Doubtful. Will there be a credit towards the purchase of the Pro version?I feel Reolink needs to do something to make this right.
I've worked plenty with companies that have made improvements based on customer feedback. Are you saying Reolink has a track record of not making updates and making improvements to released products? If that is the case, then yes, they'll be going back.
I know the common response of "due to the nature of PIR...", but other companies are doing it. I just invested in 4 Argus 3 cams with solar panels and am missing these features. I was thinking I would be able to tweak the motion settings to get it how I want, but that's proven to be a pain.Motion Zones - Ring battery operated, PIR spotlight cam does this.Person Detection - Same as above and Wyze.Pre-Record - The new Blink cams have this option. It's out there using PIR....hope to see Reolink catch up so I don't feel like I just made a poor buying choice. Thanks
Ring is now doing this with their battery operated, PIR spotlight cam. Check out LifeHakster's YouTube video on this. It didn't used to be this way, but they did add it, so I would think Reolink could do the same. Not having this and person detection makes it tough when not installed in a perfect scenario per Reolink's documentation. In a lab, it's easy to setup optimally...not so much in the real-world.
Hello,I purchased 4 Argus 3 cams to go around my property and so far have installed 2 of them. Are there any plans to add some smarts to these things the other competitors offer such as person only detection and motion zones? I feel I'm already having to fiddle with these things too much to get it how I want it. I thought I had it pretty good, but today is a windy day, and the cams are being set off way too much. All this is with the "Reduce False Alarms" setting turned on. At this point, I'm just turning down the sensitivity, but I'm afraid I will miss legit events. I'm still within my 30 days to refund, but hoping not to need to go through that process. Also, I understand certain features on these (or any) battery operated camera cannot work because it would require them to always be on, such as for 3 second pre-record. However, I have these hooked to a solar panel and I get a lot of sun. Would it be possible to allow some extra features to be turned on in these cases where a solar panel is attached? There is a competitor's battery operated cam that shows a very low res, black and white 3-second pre-capture, and this would be great. Now that I own these, I feel I'm missing some key features. Thanks
