Is the RLK16-410 just outdated Software wise or does it have a totally different firmware?

I plan to buy a RLK8-410 system together with 6 cameras.
But I have only Linux Clients. What are my options here?

I know the client does not run officially.
But did anyone manage to access that NVR with the latest Firmware from a Linux client?
Did it work by wine? Or Firefox with flash plugin?

In the worst case a RTSP streaming by VLC should work, right?
