Domes seem to be consistently more expensive than their comparable bullet version. Why the cost difference? Can dome cameras be mounted on a vertical surface or only horizontal? Other pro/con thoughts about bullet vs dome other than the cost and slight difference in field of view?

Seems only a few Reolink cameras have this feature. Can someone share situations in which they've found optical zoom particularly useful with their cameras?

I currently have Ring floodlight cams and do not like them. Slow loading app, erratic motion triggers for unnecessary things, uncoupling of lights with camera, missed motion activity, and on and on. Reolink PoE cameras seems to be well regarded, though it seems motion detection may not be much better than Ring. Regardless, having an NVR means I have video of everything recorded when needed. I will be hiring someone to run the light cabling and mount the cameras and plan to do the setup myself. I'm debating between a 5MP and 4K camera system (4-5 cameras) with 16 channel NVR (to allow expandability and increase max size of storage) but would appreciate if someone can confirm the process below seems relatively accurate and also a few questions at the latter stages of install:

1. Purchase cameras and NVR. Assuming the Cat6 cable is being supplied by the light cable installer, do I need any other hardware or items to allow for install?

2. Run Cat6 cable to all locations where outdoor cameras will be installed.

3. Mount the cameras and plug in the Cat6 cable. This provides video and power (and audio on certain cams).

4. Plug the other end of all the Cat6 cables to the NVR.

5. How to set up the cameras once they are installed and connected by Cat6 to my NVR to get them on and capturing video and connected to my Reolink account? Do I connect the NVR to my MacBook Pro using an HDMI to USBC adapter and then run the Reolink desktop software or something different?

6. I see there are different Cloud subscription options for those that want remote access/storage to camera video. How does the NVR get online so that it can upload content to the Cloud?

I'm putting together a system and on the fence about 4k vs 5MP cameras. Curious what others have experienced and if the file size of 4k video (4-5 cameras in my system) will create more problems than the added resolution is worth?
