Did he say what other mouses he tried? Do you have a link to the video?
White.
Unifying seems to not work, but that may be a red herring. There have been no reports of any new Logitech mice working. Only old ones. I bought a Logitech M185 because somebody had an old M185 that was working. My brand new M185 does not work, even though that particular model does not have the unifying logo on the dongle.
Glenn, that's great! Glad to hear that this mouse is working for you since you started this thread 3 years ago. Does it work on both USB ports, or just the front one?
I bought a logitech M185 specifically to use on my NVR. I never paired it with anything. The dongle doesn't even have the unifying logo on it, but it still doesn't work with my NVR.I also tested my logitech mouse out with a USB analyzer (https://www.adafruit.com/product/708) to see if I could figure out why it was not working with my NVR. It did not announce itself as a mouse, it showed up as a wireless dongle or something like that, and then started dropping packets left and right. I don't have the analyzer anymore, but I could still analyze my new mouse on my laptop with wireshark software as a comparison (I just can't use wireshark to debug problems while connected to the NVR).
timbercreek/glenn, did you guys get your $15 mouse from amazon yet? Does it work for you guys?
tinman thanks for sharing! That is really weird that some mice work on the back port and others don't. Which model of NVR do you have?
Holy crap it worked! This $15 wireless mouse from amazon works with my RLK16-410, and is even available on amazon prime One-Day delivery!https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Compatible-Android-Windows/dp/B07VJHQ4N2One weird thing that I noticed though is that the wireless mouse doesn't work on the USB port in the back of the NVR. It only works on the USB port in the front. My wired mouse works just fine on the back port, just not the wireless one.
Just out of interest, which USB port are you using? The front or the back?
I've tried both.
However, my Logitech which DOESN'T use the Unifying receiver DOES work. Unfortunately I don't have the model number of the mouse that works but I know the mouse cost me a fair few quid, unlike the cheap mass produced imports, and a quick search on Logitech's site seems to suggest it's no longer manufactured and ALL their wireless mice now use the Unifying receiver.
Yeah that's what I suspected. It seems that the unifying receiver is the problem with the newer Logitech mice, and you can't get one now without it.I have decided to try this one:https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Compatible-Android-Windows/dp/B07VJHQ4N2It is only $15, and in the amazon description it says this: "works with laptop, desktop or any device with USB port"If it doesn't work, I'll just return it saying that the description of the product was incorrect. Anyway, it should arrive on Wednesday. I'll report back wether it works or not.
Looks like Amazon is only shipping the K-18 version in the US
Looks like the K-18 version is less compatible than the K-19.K-19:"Please note that it's also compatible with Mac and Smart TV except some features of Fn+Hot keys."K-18:"Please note that it's NOT FULLY compatible with Mac and Smart TV"
So you are saying that a brand new Sonkir K-19 mouse works?
slicker55,Thanks for posting that! Logitech does not sell M505 anymore, so that would make sense. I have been suspecting that the problem has to do with logitech's "unifying" receivers. Does your usb dongle have the orange unifying logo on it? If so, which one does it look like:Older unifying receiver:Newer unifying receiver:Old-Logitech_unifying_receiver.jpgNew-Logitech_Unifying_Receiver_USB.jpg
Thanks!
Here is a screenshoot of user permissions for Blue Iris for example. These make a lot more sense:https://imgur.com/a/zR3Pj9P
Well that sucks! I have many other issues with this NVR, but this one issue is a dealbreaker for me. I'm going to have to figure out a workaround, or possibly return this system. I really don't understand why there are so many permission settings to tweak various abilities to modify settings. Why should I care if somebody has the ability to modify the contrast of the video, for example, when I can't even restrict playback?! That makes no sense. I just assumed that was a basic feature of allowing guest user accounts.
I recently purchased a Reolink NVR (RLK16-410B4D4-5MP). I'm trying to add the Nanny as a user so that she can access the live view of the cameras from her phone while she is nannying. I have disabled P2P/uPnP/Port Forwarding so that the NVR is for local access only, so she would only be able to access the cameras when she is physically present. The problem is that some of the cameras are inside that house, so there is a privacy concern for her to be able to access playback video, but oddly I don't see any way to restrict playback access to specific users. I added a "guest" user account for her, but it looks like those guest accounts basically have access to everything. Am I missing something?!
Cynthia,Thank you for forwarding the enhancement request. As an update, I did try the usb y-adapter and that did not work. I also tried a powered usb hub. The hub worked great with various wired usb mouses that I tried, but still did not help with the wireless mouse situation. I tried two different Logitech wireless mice and even updated the firmware for one of them, but neither worked.Updating the NVR to support a wireless mouse would be extremely useful. Thanks.
I bought a Logitech M185 as well and had the same issues. Mouse curser moves about an inch before stopping working every time I plug in the usb dongle. I wonder if it is a power issue. i.e. maybe the Reolink NVR has extremely underpowered USB ports. Has anyone tried something like this? https://www.amazon.com/HIGHROCK-Enhancer-Female-Charge-Extension/dp/B00NIGO4NM/
