You would not want it to automatically format the SD card as you would lose recent data that could be only minutes old. If you are gone for a long weekend and it automatically deletes 48 hour old files, you could lose videos that might be important. If this was the case for all security cameras, thief's could use this to their advantage.I am not a lawyer, so you should seek legal advice, but I do not think this law applies to security cameras, especially for individuals homes. These laws seem to be for personal data collected by businesses and other corporate/government entities. It sounds like your neighbor is misrepresenting the use of this law to mislead you.
No, it's never filled up, but when I use the app there doesn't seem to be any indication of which one's I've already watched. This means that unless I keep track of the time, I end up rewatching a few. If I can delete them, then I save time and phone data costs. Formatting is working for me, but is a few more steps than I'd like. Seems like they could add a long press to a clip to pop up a menu that includes a delete feature, and maybe a protect or flag feature. At a minimum, maybe the app could keep track of which videos have been watched and add a symbol, or change the color, though this is something that could take up a lot of memory if done in the app, especially since I have 64gb sd card. Being able to delete would be a better choice I think.
For the Argus Pro, how can I delete a recording from the SD card once I've watched it?Right now, after watching them all, I format the card, but there's got to be a better way to delete a single or maybe a group of recordings.Thanks,Richard.
I can't believe a week and a half and no response from reolink.BTW, I just downloaded the latest V7.1.2.44 and it still has the problem.Using V7.1.2.44, I tried to downloaded a 30 minute (1.73GB) video from my NVR. No warning or error, yet I ended up with a 7:30 minute (443MB) video instead of 30 minutes.
I reinstalled Relink Client V7.1.2.40 and it was able to download the two large files I used for testing without a problem. It seems a bug was introduced from V7.1.2.40 to V7.1.2.43 that effects downloads from a NVR, especially on larger files.
I use the NVR (NVR RLN8-410, build 1609240) to record from my cameras, but I don't really use the NVR interface, I use the Reolink Client (V7.1.2.43).This morning I downloaded a few file to my laptop, and noticed one large one (1.27G, about 22 minutes) didn't finish and showed -1 instead.I started it again, and it showed finished with no errros, however, when I went to watch it, it was only a 1:47. I downloaded it again, and it failed. I tried again and it finished without error, but was only 1:04. I've tried repeatedly, and most of the time it errors (-1), and everytime is says finished, it's anywhere from a few seconds to less than two minutes. I've watched it, and it always takes a while and goes up to 99% before saying finished, so there's no indication of a problem. I found another file that is also over 1G, and it does the same thing. It could be happening on smaller files, I haven't checked. My NVR is setup to record a minute after motion, and I noticed a couple of files less than a minute, and one as small as 10 seconds, which shouldn't happen.I tried downloading from the NVR using USB, and it seems to work on the few files I tested, however, that's not how I intend to use this system since the NVR is in another building. Now, I can't trust it to download files correctly. I don't want to have to crosscheck every file I download to make sure it actually fully downloaded. I'm not sure how long this has been going on and what I might have missed. What can we do to fix this?Richard.
I just tried downloading from NVR to USB and that worked fine, no problems at all.I downloaded the latest Reolink Client, V7.1.2.43, and it still can't download the files.Connecting to the camera itself, instead of the NVR, though a web browser, I was able to download the files.I've attached a screen shot after it fails to download the files. It doesn't show the full error, just "Downlo..."The screen shot is from Reolink Client V7.1.2.40. V7.1.2.43 did the same. Thanks for letting me know about the new camera firmware updates, I'll try to get to those this week.Richard.Screenshot-2016-11-15-22.02.32.jpg
Thanks everyone for the replies. I'd hoped the NVR pre-record would be at least as much as the Reolink Client or even the camera it self, but since it's due to limited memory in the NVR, I'm guessing it can't be changed through firmware.
This applies to cameras RLC-410S build 16091801,RLC-411S build 16091804, RLC-410WS build 16100802 and NVR RLN8-410 build 1609240.Sunday here in the USA the time changed due to Daylight savings time.Files recorded during the hour after the time changes, which have time stamps during 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM, as expected, can't bedownloaded through the Reolink Client software for PC/Windows. In the field that normally says 'finished', it immediately says 'Downlo...', which I'm assuming is a shortened Download Error. This is only a once a year issue, and you can still get to the files by other means, but I primarily use Reolink Client, so it would be nice if it was fixed. At least within the next year Richard.
Hello,Previous to getting a NVR (RLN8-410, build 1609240) I was recording using the Reolink Client (V7.1.2.40) on windows 10 and really liked the pre-record feature. Once I installed the NVR, I continued to also record with the Reolink Client to compare behavior.I do have pre-record turned on on the NVR, however, the Reolink Client always pre-records 5-6 second before the NVR. I'm not sure how long the pre-record is supposed to be, but I always assumed it was about 5 seconds, so it seems the NVR pre-record may not be working, or it doesn't pre-record very much at all. ( Is there any way, other than the checkbox being checked, to confirm that pre-record is actually working on the NVR?Is there a way to adjust how much it pre-records?For additional comparison, the camera is a RLC-411S, build 16091804, and it also has pre-record turned on, and it pre-records to SD about two seconds more than the NVR, and about 3-4 seconds less than the Reolink Client.I would like to eventually depend soley on the NVR, but I don't like that it has the least amount of pre-record, or the pre-record isn't working. How long is the pre-record supposed to be for each of these? Thanks,Richard.
