Or do you prefer I make a support ticket with this question ?Tardiness in reply will only delay my camera purchases.
I have two 843A oriented towards my garage and carport and seems to work reasonable well. They also cover about half of the front area of the house, and partially cover each other. I will ned to buy more cams, but when looking at rotating cameras like the 823-S1 that do cover 300 degrees plus, I find no info on how the sensors work. Will a 300 degress plus camera detect movement at 90 degrees as well as movement at 270 degrees, or is the movement detectors limited to the 100 degrees FoV in front of the camera:https://reolink.com/product/rlc-823s1/#specificationsThe 180 variants, like Duo 3v, are not relevant in this context, but I do have need for one of those at another location.
@joseph_1979 so what good is an NVR if I do not connect the cameras to it or need it for storage?
All my equipment is brand new and while having the NVR https://reolink.com/product/rln8-410/ everything was just extremely confusing and problematic with the cameras directly connected to it. So I took the NVR off line. Connected my cameras ( 2 x https://reolink.com/product/rlc-843a/ for now) to my PoE Switch and suddenly everything was a lot more stable and I could do the relevant FW upgrades without interruptions or timeouts or resetting the cameras 4 times in a row.(I should mention that the cables connecting the cameras to the NVR were the exact same cables that connect them to the PoE Switch.)So now I am slowly experimenting to set up the cameras (Manual? Recommended settings?) and storage might become an issue. I have 128GB SD Cards for all and while that is normally a respectable amount of storage it will of course not last very long. Enter the NVR. Oh, found a manual: https://home-cdn.reolink.us/wp-content/assets/multiple-languages/manual/Reolink_Client_User_Manual.pdf?download_name=Reolink_Client_User_Manual.pdfI have taken the NVR online again, but not connecting the cameras. It connects to my network via the very same PoE Switch. How do you suggest I tell the cameras to use the NVR to store the media? I do not seem to find any menu alternative or setting for that, despite NVR being available (when connected) via the Android App as well as the Windows Reolink software. EDIT ( since I still cant make new posts without a random thousand of seconds between them)And such a curious little nuisance, does a camera hard reset restore the old firmware that I spent a LOT of time trying to get updated... certainly looks that way...?
Damn, I missed that the dome 843A cameras do not rotate, even if the FoV angles is greater. Might still work well enough.Which cameras do rotate?
@joseph_1979 sorry this forum and its limitation is really killing my conversation and attempts to post ay useful info
Actually I had this question on FB as well and I quote my response there:having the cams and looking at the assembly and at where I could place them, well one, since the "soffit underside the eave" is wood and in a corner I could just screw a plank that sticks out from the soffit a couple of decimetres and screw the camera on to it. Even got matching wood available. All I need to do is finish off the plank a bit to smooth its edges around the cam. (Woodworking English terminology is not native to me ) . Maybe with some metal reinforcements some how.So that will probably work, got the Domes (843A) a couple of days ago and testing a bit.Oh, and ordered an NVR as well... the 8-410 I think the model is called.
damn the brackets had to be returned, do not fit the 843.
Actually went ahead and bought 4 cameras, two Dome and two "turret". RLC-843A and RLC-820A.Also found two brackets for the domes, which was a welcome bonus, since it makes the mounting easier. Looking at doing a vinyl wrap or some such on them since there was no chance to get them black.
I am going with Reolink's products for my current surveillance needs but if you would allow me a few questions (since I am not currently a customer I do not seem to be able to contact Support).I will need 4-6 cameras, depending on placement, viewing angles and responses below. All will run via PoE and some will need to be IK10 "Vandal proof". All connected to my own Switch on a VLAN on my own network within my own firewall.
And one last question, is there any licensing costs for using Reolink or the camera cost is the only cost? Thanks for reading and looking forward to your answers...
