if that camera is from the NVR package (not purchased separately)
This implies the cameras you supply in the NVR/Camera Package are different to those you sell separately? If so, what is the difference between the two versions and why is this necessary?I am particularly interested in the latest 4K Bullet Cameras as I purchased the 8Ch NVR / 4 x 4K Bullet Camera Bundle and 3 additional 4K Bullet Cameras.
@SoCalTechThank you for taking the time to share your valuable experience which I have read with interest. Please bear with me whilst I be honest enough to pass on my initial response to this unfortunate predicament. Clearly, there is more than one issue here, the most important being the suitability of the equipment you have chosen when taking into account compliance with local legislation. I am sure that had you been aware of this constraint from the outset you would have chosen an alternative product. No offence intended but, this points to a lack of communication during the consultation phase although not necessarily the fault of any particular individual. On reflection, we now know this equipment can not comply with local legislation even if you installed multiple NVR’s and ran with fewer cameras and/or lower resolutions to spread the load.I think in reality this could have been a routine installation was it not for the necessity to store footage for such a long time. Crazy, when you consider that in some countries, footage can only be stored for 24 hours.Unlike yourself, I am a first time user and I have recently installed a Reolink 8Ch NVR with 7 x 4K and 1 x 5MP cameras around my home.I view the cameras on a MacBook Pro using the Mac Desktop Client and couldn’t be happier with the reliability of the equipment, features of the software, ease of use and quality of the video and still images.I do need to point out that increasing the internal HDD to 4TB and adding an eSATA enclosure and 4TB HDD were essential upgrades to achieve my goal - minimum 14 days 24/7 before over-writing. I created a spreadsheet containing formulas, which I update daily to monitor storage space. All of my camera's are recording at their highest resolutions 24/7. I have enabled motion detection enabled on five of the 4K cameras, carefully masked through experimentation to minimise false positives. Whilst confining motion detection to specific cameras has no bearing on utilisation of storage space, as those cameras are recording 24/7 anyway, the number of trigger notifications sent to my iPhone is considerably reduced with increased reliability. The system was commissioned on 20/02/20 and ran for 17 days before over-writing.I appreciate none of this helps in your particular situation but I thought it might be of value to potential customers planning a similar installation where local requirements do not necessitate further considerations. In conclusion, the system I have installed meets my expectations and appears well suited for domestic or small businesses subject to the number of cameras and the recording over-write period meeting ones requirements. Like yourself, I questioned the published information in respect of maximum HDD capacity but was only given a stock answer. I only wish I had access to a larger capacity HDD to carry out tests for myself but these drives are too expensive to gamble with. This bugs me because in the absence of any technical explanation, I compare this scenario to a Garmin GPS which the manufacturer says is compatible with microSD cards (maximum 4GB) yet mine works perfectly with a 16GB card. When I contacted Reolink regarding the published limitation on maximum HDD capacities I was informed that further testing has not been undertaken. If this is true, Reolink are missing a trick because their products will gain a competitive edge if higher capacity drives are compatible.I sympathise with your particular situation and in my mind am trying to separate performance and reliability issues with physical limitations. The former may be indicative of a hardware fault somewhere in the system particularly since you say all was working well initially. Of course, I take the point this is of little comfort if, ultimately, you cannot are achieve the required recording time.Unfortunately, the requirement to comply with local legislation imposes considerations which you was not aware of when you installed the system and I guess, had you known, you would considered alternative solutions right from the start.Good luck with everything - will follow this thread with interest - feel free to ask if there is anything I may be able to help you with.I do plan to upload my spreadsheet with simply instructions after a second round of testing.
Does anyone know if the ”My Book” from WD is compatible with the RLN8-410E NVR for the 4k bullet cameras?

Hello Cynthia,That's OK... #490133 was in response to a question from your teamBut, at least 'some' wireless mouse will work albeit ones no longer readily available!I am just lucky to have an older mouse
Hello Cynthia,Thank youUnderstood but if I install an additional camera using a PoE switch, will I be able to view it via the Mac desktop client?I have the LIVE VIEW screen configured to show 3 x 3 cameras.I currently have 8 cameras so there is one available space.
Hello Cynthia,This issue may have been resolved.Instead of using the Mac desktop app, I connected a monitor and mouse to the NVR to access the settings menu.Within the settings there is a button labelled SCANI clicked this button and the issue has not happened since.
@reolinkdongle does not have orange unifying logo but this may have worm offIMG_1090.jpgIMG_1089.jpgIMG_1085.jpgIMG_1086.jpgIMG_1087.jpg
Good News... Logitech M505 works with my 8Ch NVR (RLN8-410 E)
the cameras are connected to other POE Switch and all devices are on the same network
Hello Barak,Did you get this working? If so, what equipment did you use and how did you connect it up?Was this to add one or more cameras in 'addition' to the amount of available ports on your NVR?Thanks in advance...
Thank you Cynthia,This may have seemed a silly question as we know there are only 8 ports on the 8Ch NVRHowever, I think I have read, here in this forum, that some people have successfully connected additional 'view only' cameras somehow?I think, maybe using a PoE switch on the same network? If so, I hope someone will explain what equipment they used and how they got everything working.

I have used all the ports on my 8Ch NVRI would like to add one more hard-wired PoE camera. What are my options?
@a2zI must admit, I am a little confused after reading this thread... I already have 8 x PoE cameras connected to my 8Ch NVRHow would I connect an additional PoE camera without disconnecting one of my existing cameras?I would be happy for the additional camera to be 'view only'Wireless wouldn't be any good for the intended location - too unreliable
Thank you Cynthia - you do a great job monitoring and answering all of our questions - appreciated The information you have provided confirms what I suspected. However, in my case, the external drive started first and later switched to the internal drive before it was full? Both drives are Western Digital Purple Surveillance 4TB 3.5 SATA 6Gbs 64MB (WD40PURZ)
Thank you... this is what I did in the endHopefully, other users will find this information useful I have relied upon the iOS desktop app (which is very good) but I will connect a monitor to the NVR to see what additional features may exist using this method.Do you have a comparison chart showing available features across the different programming tools? If not, maybe something for the future?
My Reolink 8Ch NVR has:1 x internal 4TB HDD1 x external 4TB HDD (eSATA)I am using the Mac desktop app to monitor usage of these drives and have noticed that after initialising both drives, they showed 3179 GBThe external drive was automatically taken into use, indicated by a steady reduction in available disk space.I anticipated that once the external drive was empty the operating system would automatically switch to the internal drive. However, when the external drive reached 2816.77 the operating system switched to the internal drive which is now steadily reducing in disk space.Current readings:Internal 0 3179 GB 3106.77External eSATA 3179 GB 2816.77Questions:1. As these are 4TB drives, why is there only 3179 GB available after initialisation?2. How does the operating system deploy available disk space across multiple drives?
I have Reolink 8Ch NVR and 8 cameras but decided to swop one of the cameras for a different Reolink model.I access the NVR using the Reolink Desktop App on my MacBookProI spent a long time trying to figure out how to 'remove' the camera in question before resorting to physically connecting a monitor to the NVR and removing the camera that way.Did I miss something or is this the only way to do this?
