An API for battery-based reolink cameras would be really nice. I understand an API could be bad on battery life (and I can code accordingly). I also understand it's a major, big, bad security hole waiting to happen. However, for some of us who are already security minded, it'd be worth it to be able to use the App to enable, "3rd party", or, "API" access.
I am willing to buy any camera that will work as long as it is battery-powered as there is no power where I will be putting the cameras. I can put in a small PV system for a base station if I need to.I'm in the USA.
I have a location (and I think I'm not the only person with this problem) that is very remote (no internet, even with 4G cellular). I cannot trust storing images to the on-camera SD card because the first thing they steal are the cameras (I've lost $US 500 of cameras alone). If there was some kind of, "local" base station where the images are stored that I could hide really, really well because it would not have to be visible like the camera, the thieves would not be able to steal it.Where I'm at the thieves are seriously persistent, and it's very remote. There's nobody to hear an alarm if it goes off, the only I can do is get a good picture to identify them. I've lost ten's of thousands of dollars to thieves so far.
