Hi Folks,I'm looking at buying a Reolink camera system including a RLN8-410 recorder. Before I pull the trigger I have some questions - maybe somebody knows the answers?1) I would like to exclude certain areas from being recorded (think about the neighbor's ground for example). Is it possible to define those areas which are then wiped automatically from the recording?2) movement detection - Is it possible to define areas in which movement is detected and other areas (like a public road where lots of cars are driving) are ignored?3) is it possible to connect any Reolink camera to the RLN8-410 recorder? For example the Argus Cameras?4) Connection via App/Website - how easy is this to be set up? Do I have to setup the recorder or the cameras in the local Router/firewall to allow external access? Thanks, Martin
Martin,Below is my take on your questions.. Answered by the numbers..1) You can add a Privacy Mask to the area you don't want to see (example: neighbors windows, etc). It will put a black box in the video where you setup the Privacy Mask (the privacy mask can only be a square or rectangle in shape).2) You CAN define areas that you DO NOT want to detect motion (this can be any shape/size).3) I can't answer this question, sorry.4) If you are going to use the reolink mobile app to access the cameras, then there is No need to make a modification to the router. If you are going to access the cameras from another computer over the internet than, Yes, you will need to adjust some settings in the router (setup DDNS, port forwarding, etc).I hope this helps...
Thank you Bill for sharing the answers. We would like to answer more on the questions. For the first question, you can try to set up the Privacy Mask according to this article, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900001978823-How-to-set-up-Privacy-Mask-via-Reolink-App.For your third question, the battery camera can't connect to the NVR. For WiFi cameras and PoE cameras, you can find out the hardware version of your RLN8-410. Then click this article to check what supporting camera you can connect to the system.https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000602543-Hardware-Version-of-Reolink-NVRsIf you want to access the camera via website, you can follow the steps here, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003537834-How-to-Access-Reolink-PoE-NVRs-Locally-via-a-Web-Browser.If you want to access the camera via app, you can just use the UID to connect the NVR just like what you do in connecting the camera.
Thank you for your quick reply, Martin. Yes, the battery camera includes the Argus series and Go series. Reolink battery-powered cameras can't be added to Reolink NVR or accessed via any other 3rd-party software. It may be not possible to connect the wifi battery camera to the NVR now.
