      Camera: RLC-520
Connection: Ethernet via TPLinke powerline adaptor
      Firmware: v3.0.0.136_20121112
      Client: 8.3.1
      <br><br>
I am running Reolink Client on a laptop. This is used for recording of video when movement is detected. The laptop runs 24/7 and the setup works well.
      <br><br>
However, after 5 minutes of running the client software the laptop fans spin up loud. This is not the CPU - it's the GPU fans that are spinning. OK, you could say that's a problem with my laptop and Solution 1 is I should try running AMD / Nvidia control panels but that is not a good solution.
      <br><br>
What I have noticed is the high speed fans only happens when I am in Live View. If Live View is selected, and even if the client software is running in the background then the fans spin up after 5 minutes. But if I leave the client in Playback mode the fans stop. Therefore, this is clearly the rendering of the image in Live View which is causing the high GPU usage.
      <br><br>
Solution 2 could be to just leave the client in Playback mode, but the problem I have then is that the client will lose connection with the camera after about an hour or so.
      <br><br>
Solution 3 is what I am doing now. It works but I think there could be a fix in the client software. All I have to do to stop the high GPU is to do this:
      <br><br>
      * Leave the client in Live View mode (this ensures the connection never drops out)
      * Click the camera Settings cog wheel to bring up the settings panel.
      * Drag the settings panel over the Live picture and ensure it is covered. This prevents the GPU from rendering the image and spinning up the fans
      <br><br>
      Feature Request
Could the client software have a Hide or Pause Live mode? This would allow the surveillance to contine to record video but not display live images.
      <br><br>
Alternatively could the network connection drop be investigated when in Playback mode?

Thank you for your test. For pause live mode, when you click the right mouse button, you can choose to close the live view. Is this the function you want?
For the network connection drop, we are fixing a connecting issue of the Client now. We will try to make it better.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I now have success / solution with this.

Firstly, I was not aware of the Pause Live mode. That is a useful feature but unfortunately I was still getting the timeout in this mode.

What I have done now is to right click and change the view to Standard. This keeps the connection permanently and it does not cause the GPU fans to spin up. This is a good solution.

          Many thanks for your help.
