      It appears that from reading some discussions that there is a "detection zone".

      Can someone explain/show where that is?

      I thought it would be anything within the field of view of the camera and obviously this isn't correct.

      Thanks!

            @joseph-chircop_497308027822318

            There is a definite problem. I noticed the camera on the opposite side of the house (much further away) picks up cars/people in the cul-de-sac but my new closer camera had not picked up anything but me putting the camera up and moving the ladder.

            The only difference I can come up at this point is that the camera on the other side of the house is looking past a shaded porch area down to the cul-de-sac where it's sunny.......difference in contrast change?......just spitballing at this point.

            But I'm still wondering if this may have an old FW that is not the best (v3.0.0.1045_22061301)(Argus PT 2k 2.4/5).

            Suggestions??

            And Thanks as always!

              @user_585783633887262_585783633887262 If the camera picks you what else you want :). As I stated the position of the camera is very important and PIRs are activated if the object crossed the sectors.

              The PIR sensor itself has two slots in it, each slot is made of a special material that is sensitive to IR. The lens used here is not really doing much and so we see that the two slots can 'see' out past some distance (basically the sensitivity of the sensor). When the sensor is idle, both slots detect the same amount of IR, the ambient amount radiated from the room or walls or outdoors. When a warm body like a human or animal passes by, it first intercepts one half of the PIR sensor, which causes a positive differential change between the two halves. When the warm body leaves the sensing area, the reverse happens, whereby the sensor generates a negative differential change. These change pulses are what is detected. So ensure that the object crosses these slots or sectors.
