I am evaluating purchasing one of these cameras for security monitoring purposes, however, I currently only have slower DSL with limited upload speeds (3Mbps down, 384kbps-ish up) which I know is too slow for reasonable streaming - I can upgrade to 10 Mbps down and about 750 kbps up, but that is the best I can currently get. What are the upload requirements for the cameras - assuming the video events are being stored locally - I would want to be able to see a "live" stream on-demand at times, or ocassionly on receiving an event notification, but the quality for the stream would not have to be great as long as I am getting the full resolution recording onto the SD card in the camera for later review.thanks!
I can't really answer your question but if it were me I'd get one camera to try it.I have slow internet. My download speed is lower than yours and my upload might be the same or a bit faster. Remote streaming to my Android device works fine. The clearest streamed video comes from the appropriately named Clear stream. Fluent is a sub-stream of Clear and I think, by default, the app uses the lower bandwidth Fluent stream.
Hi, like Bob Lonlaw said, when you need to check the camera(s) on demand, you have the option of watch in clear or fluid mode. Your upload bandwidth could not support "clear" streaming. As for "clear" streaming, the bitrate should be at least 6144kbps (the default) upstream. Although you can set it down to 1024kbps (the lowest), you may not get the excellent image quality. The higher bitrate, the clearer the images. For later review from the recordings stored in its SD card, there will be no problem as long as you are in the local network with the camera.bitrate.png
