I have a Duo 2 and a RLC-1224A connected to a RLN8-410. The Duo 2 captures events during the day and night, but the RLC-1224A only captures events during the day and fails to capture any events at night. I'd like to know how I can get the RLC-1224A to capture events at night.

Both cameras have the following settings:

@user_779346621022398_779346621022398 Can you paste the screenshots from motion detection?

@joseph_1979 Hi Joseph, thanks for your response. I had a look at the links you posted, unfortunately they don't have a solution for me, as Smart Person Detection on my RLC-1224A is working fine, during the day that is.

Here are some screenshots from both cams. As mentioned above, the RLC-1224A doesn't capture any events at night, so obviously there's no nighttime image for that cam.

@user_779346621022398_779346621022398 Remove any motion and tag person in record and push/email notification. Increase a bit the smart sensitivity of person. We don't use any motion as it generates lots of false alerts. We are mostly concerned about persons and vehicles.

@joseph_1979 I increased the sensitivity to maximum, but the camera still doesn't detect events on the outside of the fence. I found that the camera will capture events on the inside of the fence, as in the image below.

@user_779346621022398_779346621022398 Beyond the fence it is very difficult for the camera to identify a person. And on the other camera you have any motion and so it detects the movement of the person. If you set the other cam as persons only, most probably it won't detect it either. I also see that the IR lights are rather low on the RLC-1224A compared to the DUO 2.

I also see that the IR lights are rather low on the RLC-1224A (LED 2pcs/28mil/850nm) compared to the DUO 2 (LED 6pcs/20mil/850nm). Moreover the RLC-1224A has a better sensor than that of DUO 2. I think if you add an external IR illuminator, it would help the RLC-1224A to detect movement beyond the fence during the night.

It turns out that I had the camera in a position where the infrared light was reflecting off the soffit (as in the first image below). I found this out after watching this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z97S7pytu-o. The solution was to move the camera forwards toward the fascia (as in the second image below). I also 3D printed a bracket that moved the camera down off the soffit by 30mm. The last image shows the improved quality of the video after moving the camera. The camera now catches events as expected.

@joseph_1979 Thanks for your help in sorting out my issue.

@user_779346621022398_779346621022398 Good to know. I saw the IR was low but couldn't tell how you have installed the camera.
