Android app keeps multi window and back buttons lit

I am using the Android app on a Samsung Galaxy tab and when viewing the camera the back and multi window buttons stay lit. This is using more battery than it should. Is there a way to not keep these buttons lit while camera feed is ongoing? When in the app but not viewing the camera the buttons turn off after a second.

I am using Android 7.0 phone with soft key buttons...and I too face the problem of the soft buttons bar not auto-hide.
