RLC-410 and -410S seem to use more bandwidth than RLC-423

I have three cameras and use Synology's Surveillance Station for recording. I've noticed a big difference on bandwidth usage (with the same settings) between the RLC-423 and the others. The RLC-423 uses much less bandwidth in my application.

All three are record on Motion (5 sec pre-motion capture). Motion detection is done at the camera on all three. I suspect that maybe the RLC-423 has more RAM to buffer 5 seconds and doesn't send any traffic unless motion triggers the record, whereas the other cameras cannot buffer 5 seconds so need to continuously send traffic to the Synology.

Can anyone confirm my suspicions? If correct, I may be purchasing RLC-423's replace the -410s.

      Thanks.

BTW: I'd love to see RAM spec's on these cameras.

The bandwidth of Reolink cameras depends on the steam type you choose/set. If you set Clear Type, then the bandwidth is the same with the Bitrate under clear mode. If you set Fluent Type, then the bandwidth is the same with the Bitrate under fluent mode. You can refer to the article: What's the bandwidth Reolink cameras require? to learn more. And you can find the information you need about RLC-423 through the parameters table.

Thanks for the quick response, Carl -- much appreciated.

I had spent a lot of time verifying that the stream settings were identical, but based on your response I'm guessing that I must have missed something.

I'm not complaining about the bandwidth usage of the 410's, it looks normal. I just can't figure out why the 423 is so low, yet the picture quality is so good. Since I'm doing motion detection in the camera, none of the cameras should be using bandwidth outside of motion or remote viewers. But the 5 second pre-motion "feature" of the Synology forces the cameras to broadcast all the time (except, it seems, for the RLC-423).

I'll inspect my test setup again and report anything new that may be of interest.

          Thanks!
