      Hello,

When i bought Reolink Lumus, I was excited about motion detection, all the notifications and/or SD card recording options.

But, as it turned out PIR sensor does not have the range i wanted (although, some sensitive parts of my yard are captured by video but movement there cannot be sensed there by PIR).

Then I searched Reolink support and as it turned out, 24/7 recordings are available using:
      a) Reolink NVR system
      b) using Reolink cloud or
      c) using FTP server (or RTSP and 3rd party software for storing videos).

Now, Reolink cloud is only available for selected countries, but they disabled both FTP and RSTP option on Reolink Lumus. You cannot have 24/7 cyclic video (overwriting older recordings) 7 days a week surveillance, you can only record on SD card few seconds when PIR detects motion or you must manually turn on recording in desktop client. When i contacted the support, they said it is expected behaviour. No remote device can be used for storing recordings.

This should be pointed out when people are buying Lumus, I am going to point that out in online reviews and websites since Reolink is not doing it correctly.

Hello Tomo, sorry for the inconvenience caused,
1.The PIR sensor (passive infrared sensor) detects changes in the amount of infrared radiation impinging upon it, which varies depending on the temperature and surface characteristics of the objects in front of the sensor. and due to PIR sensor's fan-shaped structure, properly adjust the camera lens angle can improve its functionality.
2.We recently released official cloud plans in US, CA, AU and NZ and other countries(here is the full list, refer to https://cloud.reolink.com/). 、
And we’re also working proactively to support more countries in the future.
We will also support European countries. In order to protect our user’s privacy, we still have a lot of work to do to compliant with GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation).
3.Appreciate yourf feedback on the recording, that is something we need to inprove in the future.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, it is suggested to contact our Support:https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I am very informed about PIR sensors, its dependence of temperature and the way they are working, actually I am not complaining about PIR sensors and the way they work at all. My only warning or comment is that Lumus can capture motion partially in the space that you are recording, and if there are some parts of the space that are being recorded of your special interest, you cannot do anything to capture them - since no 24/7 recording is available for Lumus. Therefore, i would not say Lumus is outdoor surveillance camera. I would recommend using Lumus only for monitoring entrance to some space (i.e. back or front entrance to the house), not the whole space (i.e. whole backyard). Anyway, on the Reolink website it says that Cloud also saves ONLY motion clips. Suggesting again, no 24/7 can be done even using Cloud and Lumus. Your advertising should not be miss-leading, as it was for me when i chose to buy Lumus. I have already contacted both your support team and I am really looking forward for their replay.

Hello everyone, I am happy to announce that Lumus as from September 15, has ability to record 24/7 video on SD card also... with some default video settings, 5 minutes of recorded video is around 10 mb, which makes you record history available for almost 3 weeks while using 64 gb SD-card, which is great... Now, even if something is not in range of PIR, can be recorded if it is in the frame while you're not at home... I like that Reolink listened to user suggestions!
