      Hello,

I bought the Argus Eco to record movement in the front yard. The camera is mounted under the roof in the 3rd floor (0-3). I have to use privacy masking to not get any pictures from the neighbours and bypasserrs. Unfortunately there is a road and quite a few cars are passing (6000 the day?)
If I set the sensitivity to a a high level, that human movement is recorded, the recording starts as well when a car passes.
I hoped that only recordings would be saved when a change in the visible part of the mask is recognized.
I tried to mask the sensor with tape to no avail, because it's PIR and not a usual movement sensor.
I guess, that the camera is a nice mock-up now or is there a solution?
Do other models solve the issue?
Is PIR working in summer? The hot summers and human temperature are almost the same. How will that work?

      Kind regards,
      Markus

If I'm not mistaken, the sensitivity also controls how far out it can detect. If you lower the sensitivity it will likely restrict it from reaching the road. Also, is it possible to position the camera so it is looking more at the area of interest and something static like a structure, rather than the road?

It does sound like the masking feature is not working correctly.

Your query regarding an isothermal situation, where everything is close enough in temperature as to make discrimination impossible, is interesting. I guess it depends on the thermal resolution of the sensor. If the resolution is too low, you could encounter isothermality, and the sensor would be useless. I don't believe there is any technical data available on the resolution of the PIR sensor in question, as far as I am aware.
