      Hi everyone-

I recently bought and set up a new PoE security camera system from Reolink - specifically the 5MP RLK16-410B8 system. So far so great, we are very, very happy so far and quite impressed.

Here is my specific area of concern: Living in a rural area, the internet access is extremely meager DSL. When building the house, we painstakingly wired the house extensively with CAT-6A and ethernet connections all over the place. I have the NVR set up and it seems to be working great - just to confirm, the system is running "through the Ethernet", not the Internet, correct? One of the problems with some competitors - EZVIZ for example - is that their products are specifically designed for using *Internet Access* for viewing. So even with a wired home Ethernet, it wants to route the cameras through "the Internet".

It seems like the Reolink Windows Client is working great- and to confirm - it works through the (1 Gigabit wired) home Ethernet? When I'm on my computer, watching the cameras on the Reolink Windows Client, that's all being done 'locally' and not going out through the "internet" as an upload and then coming back as a download, right?

Second question is the Android app... I have downloaded the Android app to my tablet... when I turn on "Wifi" and load up the Reolink app to view the cameras, is the data being transmitted across WiFi directly from the "Home ethernet" - or is it using the Internet (ie, very slow speeds and such) - does the WiFi work 'locally' also?

I just wanted to confirm how this works because right now it's working pretty good but if anyone had specifics, I'd be happy. One of the main reasons I started looking at Reolink was that I saw many comments from buyers saying that they use their NVR / POE systems without any internet connection whatsoever, so it must work without it, right?

Thanks again! Sorry if my technical explanations aren't making sense.

Yes, the Windows Client is entirely on the local LAN wit the NVR.
My suspicion is that the smartphone apps are entirely through the internet connection, but with much lower bandwidth than the Windows Client.

OK fair enough thank you very much.

Both are working pretty great - so far can't complain at all.

          Thanks again!
