FTP setup

I need some confirmation and clarification on setting up the ftp client on the NVR.

1. When this is configured to upload to an ftp server, does this upload the original while not keeping anything on the NVR? Or, is this uploading a copy of the videos to an ftp server while leaving the original on the NVR?
2. Also, does it upload the full video or just the motion detected recordings?
