I recently purchased the 5MP PoE 4 camera plus NVR system for my home. So far, I have 2 of the cameras set up. They are installed properly and operating as they should for the most part, however I'm having issues with motion detection on one camera. Originally, I set all cameras to detect and email with alarm (via push to my mobile devices). The detection value/motion sensitivity was default at 50. I quickly realized that was far too sensitive once darkness came and my phone would not stop alerting me of every single bug within a 1mi radius! I went into the settings on my NVR and changed it to 10 and later to 1 (!) with no change in alert status. I was fed up for the night, so I turned it off altogether and addressed the issue the next day. It was then that I learned that the app was overriding the settings on the NVR!!! While the NVR told me each camera was set to a sensitivity of 1-5, the app showed 50! Changing the settings via the app seemed to make the difference and I comfortably set it to 10. I just looked at my settings again and the NVR is now showing a different value.

The camera in the back yard is detecting objects flying very close to the camera (a bat) and also house cats, opossums and other small animals. I'm ok with this as it's showing that it is in fact working and there is legitimate activity. I have masked an area of trees to prevent false alerts. Everything seems a-ok in the back yard.

The front yard however, is a problem. Again, I set the sensitivity to 10 via the app instead of the NVR (mirroring the settings of the back yard camera). I have a small area masked off in the top of the frame for unwanted street activity. I am getting SOME alerts for things like birds, sun coming in, sun going behind clouds, reflections from the IR light on the windshield of my car in the driveway, BUT NOT FOR HUMANS. Today, I changed the sensitivity to 25 and out of all the activity, I had ONE person detected at random and NO PEOPLE detected when I specifically knew there was activity, including the time I, myself purposefully tried triggering the system. I'm at a loss. This is beyond frustrating.

For reference my settings are as follows:
Recording 24/7 with push alerts and email
NVR motion sensitivity set to 45 (back yard) 25 (front yard)
App motion sensitivity set to 6 low (back yard) 26 medium (front yard)
With these settings: I get alerts in the back yard for changes in IR status, motion light detection, cats/dogs and larger objects, not birds unless flying close to the camera.
I get alerts in the front yard for occasional birds, sunlight in/out, changes in IR status and occasionally a person walking up my driveway, but not every time and not when I knew there was someone there, myself included.
Neither of my cameras are facing directly into the sun or light of any kind.

The reason I got this setup in the first place is because of a murder that happened nearby and had my house had the cameras at that time, that murderer would be in custody this very moment.

Could someone please shed some light on this issue?

I have reported it and customer service has been doing nothing but giving me the run around.

We are experiencing the same issues! Motion on small bugs but nothing on humans! We’ve tried all kinds of gyrations, stood on my one foot with a full moon and still no luck! It’s getting extremely frustrating! Ready to ripe it down and send it back! Don’t buy this system! The app and NVR monitor system are never in sync! You can’t temporarily disable and then re-arm the system without resetting up your settings. And the buzzer on the NVR constantly defaults back to on. We had such high hopes for this system! We will be using our Arlo wireless until we can find something as good or better that is PoE. Thanks for the colossal waste of time! L&R
