I am a newly signed up Reolink forum user, looking to buy a RLK16-820D8-A NVR which comes with the new 8 x 8MP Person/Vehicle Detection Security IP Cameras. However, before l commit myself, l would like to know if it would be possible to install 24tb or more of hard drive space? I can see that this topic has been raised by other users in the past, but has never been truly answered. So have larger hard drive capacities been tested by Reolink in their NVRs, or can any users who tried using the larger than specified hard drive comment on their experience?

I believe if you have the newest version of the NVR HW (units that support smart people/vehicle detection) then the max is 6TB per interface. So if you have 2 internal SATA drives on the 16 channel you can put 6TB + another 6TB tghen they have an external SATA you can put another 6TB. But 6TB seems to be the limit of the HD.
If you use recording with motion dectect and not record all the time when nothing is moving with 6TB yo uget about a month recording depending on the motion at your prememsis more or less.
So myself I added a second so I have 12TB and get well over 2 months recording.
If all my camera were smart and set to only record people/cars then I bet I would get 4 months of storage.

Sorry to tell you that the maximum capacity of HDD for each interface of our NVR is 6TB. If you use a hard disk larger than 6TB, there may be compatibility issues. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We will feed your needs back to our production department to see if it can be improved in the future.
