Hi again.
I am using the 3/4G cameras in a remote location, but can they be tracked by GPS if one was stolen?
I have had old style camera traps stolen too many times

@user_653179371208819_653179371208819 This can be traced in two ways. Firstly each GSM module has a unique identification called IMEI (like the MAC address of the Ethernet interface) and this is requested by the MSCs for calls or MME for data sessions and this value is populated in the XDR (data record) for each call or data session. This is available at the mobile operator and if this is reported to the Police they should ask the operators to find out whether someone is using this IMEI. How they get to know.........from the inserted SIM................having IMSI and MSISDN (the number). Mobile operators have what is known as EIR (Equipment Identity Register) where blacklisted IMEI are entered and each UE is checked against this database each time it is attached to the network. And secondly the camera has a unique UID and so this may be blocked at the camera supplier side (if they provide this service). They also have the IP which is assigned to this UID and again one can find who has this IP :).
