The Reolink Duo2 Battery Wifi camera looks a little different to the standard conventional camera, a bit bigger and a bit bulkier but the dual lens turns it into an amazing camera. The wide angle lens is nothing short of brilliant, picture quality is next level and the spot lights make night time footage near perfect to identify any potential unwelcome people in your yard.

This camera is a game changer, I highly recommend it and intend to purchase a few more for my current system. After a few weeks of trialing this camera in multiple different locations I cannot fault it, to sum it up is is a very good camera with amazing picture quality.

      SHAPE & DESIGN

The shape and design of the Duo2 is obviously a little different to the standard cctv camera, yes it can stick out a little but installed in the right position it can blend in very well without being too obvious or if you want it for the standout look of “I have a camera system here beware” then perfect for that affect too. Below the camera is installed in the corner of my verandah, certainly does not stick out.

The camera is extremely strong and weather proof. I had this camera install outside with no protection from the elements during some heavy rain for a few days and no issues at all. The footage was still near perfect and the rain had very little affect on the picture quality. One or two little rain drops on the lens at times but nothing to affect the picture quality.

Night time footage is amazing, the spot light comes on and lights up the area.

      INSTALLATION & SETUP

The Duo2 has a very strong outer casing, I found this out whilst installing it when I accidentally dropped it from roof level height. Most certainly not intentional but it survived the drop test without a dent or any affect to the picture quality. So yes it passed the drop test.

Set up of the camera is very easy, I did not have an instruction booklet in my box and was still able to put it all together without any major issues. My only initial issues was to figure out how to turn it on, a quick look at a youtube video, I unscrewed the plastic casing turned it on and was good to go.

Mounting the camera and connecting it to the solar panel is very easy, anyone can do it and if you get stuck look it up on youtube. Be careful with the mounting bracket, I managed to crack the swivel ball on the bracket mount.

      DAYLIGHT IMAGE & NIGHT VISION

Day and night vision - perfect in both modes. The footage is crystal clear night and day. The spot light creates perfect night time vision. Have you ever had the cops knocking on your door asking to look at your cctv footage due to something happening in the street? A camera without a spotlight makes it very hard to identify what someone is wearing or what colour the car was that pulled up out the front of your house. With the Duo2 spotlight activated you have instant colour footage, just like you are looking at day time vision.
      My opinion 10/10

      MOTION DETECTION ALERTS

Motion detection zone alert gives you the option to set person, vehicle, or other zones which is very handy. Reolink Duo2 allows you to set the different zones for alerts and also allows you to turn certain zones off or on. The other zone category allows you to set a certain object size in which not to receive alerts from. I set this to prevent my dog always creating activations, but a person will activate.

      RECORDING

The recording function is excellent and very easy to access. I access my footage from the app on my phone, my computer and laptop as well as my NVR system attached to a monitor. The Duo2 gives you the option to install an SD card up to 128GB as well as Reolink Cloud storage. I utilise the cloud storage and find it very easy to access and use.

The Reolink App is my preferred method to access the camera as it so so easy to access on the phone. Downloading a clip is very easy and fast to do on the App. I also access my Reolink data from my iMac and Windows PC no issues at all.

      THIRD PARY SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY

No issues, works on the Reolink App, IMac and Windows PC. I have not had an issue with any system, all good.

      BATTERY AND SOLAR PANEL

I tested out the battery life with the camera on high sensitivity and no solar panel connected to see how long it would last. After 16 days I still had 15% of battery life on the camera.
The solar panel is brilliant, and it keeps the camera charged to 100% the most of the time. Overnight the camera % only drops a few %, so no issues there.

      AUDIO /TALK function

The audio quality of the camera is very good, the talk function is not bad, good enough to get a quick message across when needed.

ALARM button is very good, press it on your App to activate it and the siren sounds almost instantly. The siren is loud and perfect to scare of any unwelcome visitors.

FINAL WORD = A brilliant camera, highly recommended.

@lockyo_343437773390047 Indeed it is and I do recommend it too. However, there are some issues which have to be resolved such as improved wake up time as sometimes the object is missed, spotlight takes a bit longer compared to Argus 3 Pro, clicking on CLIP while in live mode doesn't work (both Windows and Android clients), missing Pet detection and perhaps better 5G WIFI sensitivity. I am waiting for a new firmware from support. Will update on the outcome once I will test it.

Bummer. I guess I'll wait for the AC wire version of Duo floodlight camera.
