Re: Enable Push Notification on iOS or Android Devices - Operation Failed

      Hi Community,

I am in search of some answers hopefully before I lodge a return claim with Amazon.

Having major issues with push notifications on 810A's with or without NVR, hoping community can help.

      • Factory reset everything (Not the phones)
      • Uninstall the apps from each device and reinstall them
      • Setup new Administrators instead of using the default one (As per another post on this community and suggestions from Reddit)
      • Factory reset cameras
      • Factory Reset NVR
      • Made sure all permissions were turned on within the phones settings and approved/allowed all notifications

Screenshot below of the problem that happens across all devices
      undefined

      Camera Model = 810A
Firmware have been updated to latest on both camera and NVR
App version is the very latest

@user_619086925692975_619086925692975 if you are running Reolink client on Android...go to settings...application...find reolink...click and set allow notification.

            [SOLVED]

            I will change the heading!

Turns out that if you buy the cameras as part of a kit (810A In my case) then the cameras are issued without an UID which means they cannot be used without an NVR and if they are then they have limited functionality... Something that Reolink do not advertise in the ad on Amazon and therefore people can easily get caught out.

I have asked Reolink to update the ad so this is pointed out so no other consumers get caught out, but they failed to respond to that question, so I am kind of being forced now to notify Amazon of misleading advertising, not that I want to be nasty, but that should never EVER happen.

Turns out they also advised me that you can buy a 810A individually and they will issue it with a UID, this to me makes absolutely no sense commercially or logically, what-so-ever to do something as silly as that, I cannot even fathom why they don't just issue two firmware's then, one to run it with an NVR the other to run it without, this is just plain dumb.

I was looking at purchasing 55 cameras, but will have to give this business to someone else, I am not sure I can trust Reolink to do the right thing by their consumers, such a simple issue that had larger consequences and buyers should be aware, luckily, we purchased the kit as a test case so the losses are minimal.

            Cheers,

            David.

@user_619086925692975_619086925692975 Are you able to watch live views through the Android Reolink client? If you are able then the camera sends the UID to Reolink P2P servers as otherwise there is no way to communicate with the camera.

                  Hi Joeseph,

Yes, I am 100% able to view the camera standalone in the app, I have done all the relevant port forwards so I can also review it externally, all that is perfectly fine I just cannot turn on push notifications, which renders the camera useless to us.

It is OK we have moved on, we wont be using them and requesting a refund back from Amazon and will go back to Amcrest, I got the information we needed and one of those pieces was how good their support is, do they understand the nature of problems we present and how they respond to them, and it is not in-line with what we expect from our suppliers.

I get it, these are meant for home use not for a business, and accept that as a mistake on my part when making the purchase, we will stick with other vendors that are business friendly.

                  Appreciate your responses anyway 🙂

@user_619086925692975_619086925692975 Did you get in touch with Reolink support? For me since you are able to view them through the Android Reolink client then you should receive the PMN through FCM. If you go to the device info on the Android client, do you see the UID field filled with 16 character string? And if you go to About (main menu of appl) and click on system status, do you see token and API at the end of the screen? This is the device token provided by FCM and the API is an identification of the application on Reolink servers. In a nutshell, the camera once triggered shall send a message to the Reolink application server which in turn sends a push request to the FCM (Google) with the device token and the message. The FCM finds the device associated with the token and sends the Push Notification.

Can you remove all FW rules and allow everything for testing?
