After recommending a ReoLink outdoor camera to a friend I purchased an E1 Zoom myself.

All appears fine, the control software (App, Windows, built-in server) are good and easy to operate.
Yet I have at issue with the IR (infrared) function: after finishing the setup and using the camera for a few days the IR toggle function (Auto, Off) did no ,longer respond. Regardless of the setting and interface used (Cam,App, PC) the IR would NOT turn on in the dark. All other functions and settings do work fine. Even a power cycle and the 'Restore' method did NOT solve the issue. Only a full reset to factory values and complete new setup eventually allowed to activate the IR LEDs again.

This appears to be a SOFTWARE (not hardware) issue of the camera firmware. Why would it prevent the auto-activation of IR?

@user_650010211049534_650010211049534 IR is activated when the ambient light is below the threshold of the light sensor. If there is adequate street lighting (for example) it will not switch on.

I am aware of this day/night function, I own several cameras..
Please READ my description: even IF IN AUTO mode the camera WILL NOT activate the IR LEDS in darkness.
This can only be resolved by a total FACTORY RESET (not power cycle, not "Restore").
I consider this a firmware issue as the problem is visible in all setting interfaces (camera, browser, Android app, Windows program):
toggling the IR activity mode has no effect on the IR usage in darkness, after working fine for a few days.
            Now you...
