      Hello everyone,
I recently installed both a Reolink video doorbell and a Duo 2, both POE. The install was straightforward. I'm using Zoneminder for storage.

The rtmp urls work fantastically for the video doorbell - both sub and main. However, I'm not sure what the rtmp urls are for the Duo 2 POE. Does anyone know which ones work? It's absolutely enabled, I've compared the settings on the doorbell as well as the duo 2 via the device's web interface, and they are identical with regards to the ports being used (and everything is enabled).

In Zoneminder, the video seems to record just fine when triggered by the sub stream (which is an rtsp stream on port 554, as I can't get the rtmp streams working). However, no audio is being recorded when motion on the sub triggers recording on the main cam. When using the reolink app on my mac or iphone however, sound seems to work fine.

      Anyone else running into this?

The URL format I'm using for my doorbell, working 100%, audio and all:
      rtmp://10.10.30.13/bcs/channel0_main.bcs?channel=0&stream=0&user=admin&password=PASSWORD
      rtmp://10.10.30.13/bcs/channel0_sub.bcs?channel=0&stream=1&user=admin&password=PASSWORD

The above format does not work for the Duo 2. So I'm using the default one that the zm built-in camera detector finds, which is:
rtsp://admin:password@192.168.1.196:554/h264Preview_01_sub (or main). For whatever reason, no audio is captured in zoneminder using these urls. Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

@kweckstrom_652263608210296 DUO 2 uses H.265 codec for high definition (> 1440p) and so you need to use the following URLs.

            Main Stream: rtsp://admin:password@192.168.1.196:554/h265Preview_01_main
            Sub Stream:  rtsp://admin:password@192.168.1.196:554/h264Preview_01_sub

Use VLC and check you have both Video and Audio in both streams.

Also make sure you have RTSP turned on under Network Settings > Advanced > Port Settings > Set Up > Enable RTSP and Save. It's off by default.

To use RTMP you need to install the 3rd party software such as OBS or Streamlabs which shall allow you to remotely watch the live feed from your security camera or share the YouTube live stream to the rest of the world, or if you have a website, you can even embed the live stream on your website. In case of you tube you need the stream key which can be generated from your youtube account.

            rtmp://admin:admin@192.168.1.196:1935/bcs/channel0_main.bcs?token=[TOKEN]&channel=0&stream=0&user=admin&password=admin

@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Thanks. Any idea why the audio portion isn't getting saved? It's definitely enabled and the reolink application plays sound when I view the duo 2...

The rtmp URL doesn't seem to work for me. If I try to open it in vlc (without a token since i'm not doing YouTube or anything) it fails. Also did you mean to have the admin creds twice in the same URL? do you need the admin:password@ portion of the hostname if you're specifying it as a URL variable? The h265Preview_main one works, but still no audio saved in ZM (though interestingly it plays fine in the reo app and also in VLC - not sure why Zoneminder hates the audio track and discards it....)

Thanks again for your help. I really would like to hear the audio from my Duo 2 in zoneminder.

@kweckstrom_652263608210296 yes for rtmp try to add credentials twice as per my format. If you receive the audio on VLC then ZM seems to have an issue in decoding h265. Pls check h265 decoder in ZM.

Codec h.265 is not free and it is recently that Chrome supports this codec. I had a quick look and there seems to be an issue with ZM using codec h265. Check whether this is solved in the recent ZM version.

Ok so, what exactly is the h264Preview_01_sub stream?

@kweckstrom_652263608210296 This uses the well-known H.264 codec for video compression. Check that you have the latest ZM.

                      I'm on 1.36. But you're saying that the h264 stream is not 4k, right? It's below 1440p?

I've used both and neither of them save audio in ZM (I know that may not be reolink's problem as it seems to work fine in vlc, I'm just mentioning it for posterity). However, the h264 stream *does* appear to be a high def stream above 1440p. Please confirm?

Assuming both are capable streams, which is better for use with Zoneminder? Storage is not an issue as my disk pool is over 400TB.

@kweckstrom_652263608210296 H.264 and H.265 are both standards for video compression used in recording and distributing digital video. The main difference between H.264 and H.265 is how each processes information and the resulting video file size and bandwidth consumption used with each standard.
H.264 processes frames of video using macroblocks, while H.265 processes information using coding tree units (CTUs). CTUs process information more efficiently, which results in a smaller file size and less bandwidth used for your streamed video. So most manufacturers opt to use H.265 for high definition which requires less bandwidth and storage space. So if the definition is higher than 1440p they opt to use the H.265. However, they can still use the H.264. There is no adamant rule.

The higher the resolution, the fps and max bit rate the more clarity the picture will be and subsequently better digital zooming.

Moreover as already stated if Audio works with VLC then it's not a Reolink issue. But I cannot state eith certainly why it is not being decoded by ZM. There must be some bits ZM is not understanding.

BTW what was Reolink support reply? Try to contact them. Maybe someone else raised it up and have a solution. I am a customer.....
