      Hi,

this is now a second time, that I updated the NVR firmware (made sure that the "Update configurations" is checked) and still, after the reboot, the password is reset to empty, and all camera settings are lost.
From the web interface, I cannot even set the login/pass combo to the cameras, I have to connect to NVR directly to enter that via the stupid onscreen keyboard.

Why are my settings not kept??

Thank you posting this! I stopped in confusion at this point because I was not sure if "Update Configure File" meant "put a new configuration file in place, and then update it with my own settings", or if it meant "replace the current config file with an updated, default one".

Like you, my assumption was the first -- and I'm glad I double-checked!

@mattdm_579588790694198 Wording is wrong...should be default or factory settings.

              hello,
If you checked the "Update configurations”, the NVR will come back to the factory settings.
If you don't want it to do that, you just need to not check the "Update configurations”.

                its totally misleading then.
Why isn't the config called "Factory Reset" or so?

Update configurations - means (in my terms) that the upgrade will upgrade (merge) also the config for the new settings parameters.

and is there a way to define the login/password settings for the cameras which are connected to NVR - via the NVR Browser interface?

Sorry, you can't change the password of the camera through NVR

You can add the cameras to the router and then change the password separately.

This is extremely frustrating and time-consuming. I have updated the NVR firmware twice now, making sure that the "Update configurations" option is checked, but the password keeps resetting to empty and all camera settings are lost. The web interface is also not allowing me to set the login/pass combo for the cameras. I have to physically connect to the NVR to enter the information through the onscreen keyboard. Why are my settings not being saved?

                          Hello,

Would someone from Reolink clarify this for everyone please?

What happens if you update the firmware and put a tick or X in the Box below

                          [X] Reset Configuration

Do I keep my existing old settings? or does this reset the settings back to a factory default?

                          A) On your page here (updated 3 days ago - 1st Feb 2023)

                          It says ;
Step 4. Check if you want the cameras that are connected to the PoE NVR to restore or not. If you do not want the cameras to restore, please uncheck the "Update Configure File" button.

I would understand from the statement above that my settings WILL NOT be retained and will be factory reset if I leave it un-ticked.
If I wanted my existing settings to be retained, then I need to check the box [X]

                          1. Please can a member of staff confirm which is correct?

                          Can they also
                          2. Amend the different opinions on the website - so only correct information is on the help?
                          3. Change the words in the firmware update page so it says [ ] Erase All Content & Settings?

                          It is very confusing 😕

                          Thank you

@sj_291112514777230 It simply resets the configurable parameters to their default value. This is referred to as factory setting.

Similarly if you click restore on WIFI cams, all parameters are resetted with the exception of the WIFI as otherwise you will lose connectivity.
