why does camera die quicker when solar panel is plugged in

So i did some test....

I tested how long a reolink argus 2 will last with a fully charged battery and some usage/recordings.
I then tested it from a full charge again but with the solar panel plugged in, without collecting any sunlight. With the same amount of usage.

I found that the camera will last about 30-40% longer without the solar panel plugged in.
Why is this?
