Keep getting Email Test Failed while setting up the notifications with GMAIL. thoughts?

I used the middle column called "Gmail SMTP server". Mine didn't work at first either, and then I received an email from Google about 15 minutes later stating that an un-trusted app was trying to send email from my account. It had the option to trust the app, which I did, and then it started working.

In the US Google does not allow non Google apps to send mail using their SMTP virtual machine. I used my ISP ID and ISP SMTP server as the base address. I used my Google ID as the one to be notified. This will fix your problem.
