@vigy_591093180735512 Agreed, not understanding rain is a big issue and causing consistent false alerts.
I have a RLC-511WA with Hardware No. IPC_523128M5MP and firmware v3.1.0.956_22041509. I set up a small detection zone by masking off most of the rectangle except for a small bottom left corner area for testing purpose. I have rebooted the camera just in case it makes a difference and re-verified that the masked off areas is still configured. However, motion is still detected in the masked off area. Why is this?
@joseph-chircop_497308027822318 Thank you for your reply. It means motion detection, an important feature, must be disabled. I rather want the detection algorithm smarter to filter out snow or heavy rain.
This is still not resolved. My RLC-511WA with latest firmware update, erroneously detects snow fall as motion and alerts every few minutes. Clearly, the motion detection software is not smart enough.
@user_623346741346376_623346741346376 I can clearly confirm that the software incorrectly fires an alert when the camera automatically switches from infrared (black/white) to color and vice versa during dawn and dusk, despite no movement. This suggests buggy reolink software.
@crimp-on_62210811129 One false motion detection I noticed, although different in nature, is when the camera switches from black and white to color image. This change appears to incorrectly recognized as motion. I have created a support request with reolink over a week ago with a link to this discussion but have not heard back.I have not installed VLC. Installing VLC goes way beyond what one would expect to do from 99.9% of all customers. With all the details I have posted reolink should easily be able to reproduce flaws in motion detection firmware and correct it.
@crimp-on_62210811129 It looks to me a bug in the reolink firmware. It's easy enough to reproduce that I wish reolink software developers would look into it. If there is any additional information I can provide, please let me know. P.S.It would be nice if reolink client app would have an option to write out model numbers, firmware version, configuration settings (except for personally identifiable information, like IP address, email, etc...), into a text file that could be included for easier troubleshooting.
@crimp-on_62210811129 Thank you for your reply. Please see attached. The other config parameters, like object size have default values. I don't expect alerts from motion in the grey area, but there are.
@crimp-on_62210811129 That option does not exist for the popular Google Mesh routers, at least the older generation.
@crimp-on_62210811129 Correct, for example the Google Mesh routers have no configuration option to force 5 GHz. So, the camera connects uses the slow 2.4 GHz band which also is subject to interference from Microwave ovens. The software should be updated to force 5 GHz band.Thank you.
