@joseph_1979 Sorry for the late reply. I wasn't notified I had a reply. To update....after I pulled the camera from it's mount and brought it inside it charged fully. No issues. I reinstalled it back to it's normal location. It ran fine for over a week remaining at or near full charge. And now 2 days ago it began showing a lower battery condition. Sunlight every day yet it doesn't appear to be charging even though it is showing as "Charging" as indicated by the moving charge indicator. I'm not sure if the camera is remaining connected for some reason and putting a constant load on the battery or if the charger output is just low for some reason. I do have a USB device to test for voltage levels now...just haven't used it on the solar panel yet.
I've been running the Argus Track w/solar charger connected for over a month now with no issues. It typically shows over 95% battery every time I look. It does not connected to the App 24/7. However yesterday I noticed the battery was showing very low and this was during a sunny day. I let it go overnight as I have to get a ladder to access both camera and solar panel. Today it was showing just over 20% and charging. I pulled the camera and have it connected inside to a normal charger. But I was wondering how I determine whether the solar charger is not producing enough charge or something is wrong with the battery itself? I'm wondering how to test the output via the Type-C USB connector?
@md Yeah I've watched quite a few of LifeHackster's video reviews. But his reviews of the 1212A are over a year old now. My take on his then video was the 1212A might not be worth it although it should.
Getting ready to build a system and looking for thoughts on the 811A vs 1212A cameras. Some of the reviews make it look like the 1212A might not be the best choice for night views. Maybe there have been some firmware updates to the 1212A cameras to improve. NVR system.
I seem to remember some reviews of the 1212 cameras not being as good as the 811 ones. The reviews were several months old so perhaps firmware updates have made this worthwhile? I'm getting ready to purchase a new Reolink system with NVR and had intended to go with the 811 cameras. Perhaps I need to take a 2nd look at the 12Mp cameras.
@joseph_1979 I would have thought the 122 degree limit would be for the outside air temp and not necessarily the device temps. Either way we've been more or less on a cooling trend with temps being lower for the last week or so. So so far...knock on wood...the doorbell has not "locked up" on me again. I've received a replacement from Amazon but holding off returning this one to ensure it is problematic.
@bamainark_709557840093322 For a futher update I decided to measure the temps using a Klein infrared thermometer.Outside air temp was approx 90-92 degrees FThe vinyl mount I have the doorbell mounted to was reading 99 degreesThe side of the doorbell case itself was reading 113 degreesThe front face of the doorbell was reading 125 degrees. Very hot to the touch.Wondering how that compares to other users?
@bamainark_709557840093322 According to what you wrote, it seems that the device is suffering from high temperature and is impacting its behaviour. Can you please remove it and place it inside and do some tests? Just for verification only. Maybe the heatsink is not enough to dissipate heat.It could be that the doorbell cam even stops working at all. How about streaming to VLC and see if it's stops?
I certainly can move it inside to test. The thing worked all night and up to around noon it was working. At some point it decided the stop notifications/recording again. But as mentioned if I ring the doorbell it magically starts working again. And as mentioned in the OP when it has stopped notifications/recording I can still view the live stream either via my phone App or via the app on my PC along with sounds. So it's not like the whole doorbell locks up. Matter of fact I kinda now keep the Live View on a pc monitor to keep and eye out. Watching leaves blowing and hearing outside sounds.I haven't tried streaming video to an alternate viewer. Since this thing is new I'd have to figure that out. No NVR yet.
@bamainark_709557840093322To update this further......I decided to add the angled adapter to the doorbell. When pulling the doorbell I noticed it was fairly warm when holding it. Not really hot but warmer than I expected. The temp has cooled down currently due to recent storms passing through. So this has me wondering if indeed this device is getting too hot especially when the outside temps are around 95 degrees F?And wanted to point out that earlier today I left the house for a short period...5-10 minutes. The doorbell notified and recorded my departure. Upon return...NOTHING. I then reset the device as suggested. I might end up ordering another one from Amazon and after trying it out if it doesn't duplicate I will return the original one as defective.
@joseph_1979 I did update the firmware to v3.0.0.2033 initially. Currently the sensitivity is set to Medium. Honestly those settings don't seem to matter as I can stand in front of the doorbell when it is apparently not working correctly and get ZERO notification. Sometimes yesterday morning it quit working again. I have found if I hit the doorbell button it seems to wake the alert/notification up and begins working normally again. Yesterday after late I was standing about 15 feet in front of the doorbell talking to some neighbors and it never detected and/or recorded anything. I went inside to check my phone, no recording/alerts, and then hit the doorbell and boom starting working again. It seems to be working fine so far today but not as hot outside. Coincidence? I have not tried the Reset option yet but have given that a thought to try. Generally I can simply open my front storm door and it will trip the notification/recording to occur. That is when it's working normally. At this point I'm not sure I can trust this one.
