Hi,

my cameras can be equiped with a SD-Card, but I use a NVR as well.

It seems like the camera does NOT record to the SD-card, when a NVR is conencted.
Can this be configured somewhere?

(It would make perfect sence if the latest day or something would be stored on the local SD Card as well)

I'm using 18 Reolink Cameras for very different purposes.

Sometimes, I want one camera in "Fullscreen" (or maximized view) - i.e. my "Baby-Cam" to track, if the baby is still sleeping at all

Issue is: Maximizing the Viewport of a single camera works - but after maybe 2-3 Minutes the view always drops back to the "tiled" view.

Is this a Option that could be adjusted somewhere, or just a bug in the Desktop-Client?
(Running Windows 10 1909)

I'd say, it stays longer in "maximized view", than in "full screen mode"...?

Are there any news regarding 802.1X?

IMHO this should be a firmware/software thing only?

The Specs of the camera are 14°F~131°F Environmental Temperature. So that should leave enough tolerance,
cause they expect the camera itself getting hotter than 131°F i'd say.

As for the 14°, there is a post in the reolink blog, stating that the lower temperatur is just required for "startup" from a cold state. Cameras running 24/7 or being brought outside for startup can operate way lower than 14°F, they claim:

+1 also noted, that switching between color / bw caused an alert.

Since I'm a software developer myself, I would apply the KISS-Principle:

- Whenever the camera switches between operation modes: Ignore the motion detection for 2-3 seconds.
- Make this optional available in the firmware with a checkbox like:

[] Suppress Alerts on daylight change - Disclaimer: "I understand, that enabling this option
might not trigger a motion alert during the X seconds of operation-mode-switch-over.

Second Option maybe:

[] Store footage recorded during operation-mode-switch-over without sending an alert.

Currently i'm doing some tests with a single camera, but one thing, that immediately came to my attention:

The Playback Feature is quite nice, allowing to view the streams of 4 cameras at the same time.

However, my plans are to deploy the cameras with only a "little" of local storage (say 4 GB), and save everything
on a FTP-Enabled NAS.

So, it would be a nice feature, if the client software would allow to browse this data as well - not only footage stored
on the cameras SD.

Best option would be to allow FTP as well as Network-shares as "Data-Source" and merge the stored files with the streams actually stored on the camera.

Will it have any impact, if you "mask" that other camera as a "private" area? (Black Rectangle)?

Well, most likely auto-balancing will be applied before areas are blacked out, so most likely not.
But just a few clicks, so worth testing.

Based on my own tests with a RLC-420:

Yes, it can record permanently (use the FTP-Schedule-Option).
Yes, if the local NAS can provide FTP-Services, you are good to go.
1.2
As assumed, one camera requires about 8 MB/s with highest Settings.
1.3
The Firmware supports to rotate files on the local micro-sd. (Deleting the oldest file, once the card is full)
has no impact on the files already stored on the FTP-Server.
1.4
Mixed. A "Copy Delay" can be configured. Seems like files "missed" due to connection problems are not uploaded again.
2.1
Yes, is possible, but limited to 4 Areas per camera. (rectangles only, with no respect to camera orientation)

I've bought a RLC-420 in order to test some of the features available and the firmware in general.

So far everything looks about nice, but one thing really bothers me:

Those cameras are designed for outdoor-usage, but there is no Port-Security-Authentication method available?
(Such as 802.1X?)

Meaning, everyone could just dismount any (outdoor) camera and connect whatever device in order to access the local network?

- Port Security Settings on any Switch are not sufficient to deal with this, as they are only using MAC-based filters. (We all know, MAC-Spoofing is as easy as changing your IP-Address)
- A dedicated VLAN might add some security, but also comes with the drawback of requiring a more complex setup in order to access each camera from a local pc, or when storing the cameras data on a local NAS.

Are there any plans for 802.1X to be integrated into the cameras firmware?
(Or is it already, and I wasn't able to find it?)

i'm planing on securing my home with a little bit surveillance. I have some questions about the possibilities / General Firmware-Usage for the RLC-422

1.) Recording:
1.1 The camera has motion detection, but can it also record permanently and tore the files to a (local) NAS / FTP-Enabled
Server?
1.2 What would be the minimum Throughput for the Storage to capture 7-8 cameras 24/7?
(Since each camera only supports 100 Mbit, a "Gigabit-Supporting Storage" allowing for ~ 100 MB/s Disk-IO seems
enough?)

1.3 Does the cameras firmware support "rotation"? (I.e. saying :filesize = 10 minutes, keep XY Files?)
1.4 Does the camera "stream" to the FTP / Storage, or does it (localy) complete a file, and then upload the file every X
minutes?

2.) Blackout
2.1 In Germany it is illegal to capture parts of the neighbors lawn, or parts of the sidewalk, etc.
Does the firmware support areas that can be "blacked out" for the final recording?
