I do like the video sharpness of the Reolink system (5mp) I have. But I can tell you that the Arlo system I had prior to this had much better motion sensor ability. My wife and I are both somewhat disappointed with the motion detection feature of Reolink. Definitely needs improvement. James
I am looking for tips to minimize lag on the client or app. I am using a new 8 channel NVR. When I set the system up several weeks ago, it seemed to be quite fast, maybe one or two seconds lag. Now it could go 7 or 8 seconds. What would most consider normal lag? Thanks, James
Last year my wife upgraded her iPad and the old one sat on the shelf unused. This makes a great monitor while working at my desk. The battery doesn't last long so it is always plugged in. I preferred it be network hard wired but this version will not allow.Jamesipad.jpg
From my limited experience, I noticed that if my WiFi cameras are recording to the NVR, they will come up twice on the app. If I remove them from the NVR (channel none) then they only show up once.James
I would love to check out this camera for reviews. I have no 'channels', just personal use. I think a zoom camera would work good for the bird feeder area. With winter here, we see birds at the feeder that you normally don't see through the rest of the year. Thanks anyway.James
Can I ask what the "Trial Program" is about? Thanks, James
Thanks for your reply. I really would like a definitive answer before I purchase one. That way if the WiFi doesn't work for my situation, I can use a back up plan to wire it direct. Supplying separate power would be a problem.James
Can the RLC511w be used as a hard wired POE camera connected to the NVR? If connected via network cable to NVR, it will operate the same as the RLC511? Thanks, James
I am using an Ipad on a stand to monitor my cameras at my desk. I downloaded the app and it works fine. But I can't figure out how to rearrange the views so I can pick four to stay on the first page and the rest on the second. My old Arlo system allowed me to put devices in a particular order.Thank you. James
Ok so I have not tried to use the splitters yet being cautious not to cause any harm to the devices. I did find this article that would explain why splitters with Reolink Cameras will not work.https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011364633-Arrange-wire-order-for-RJ45-connectorTypical network connections require only 4 of the pins to be used. Reolink Cameras need 6 pins? Can this article be confirmed to be correct according to Reolink tech support? Thank you. James
I have had good luck with splitters for other devices. Just trying to find out before I attempt. I don't know how many wire pairs are used with cameras verses a regular network device which is usually only two pair.James

I am going to install a second RLC-520 on the far side of the house. Can I use two splitters as shown in the attachment? I am trying to prevent running a second cable. Thank you.
Thanks for your prompt and informative reply. James
New here. Just installed my Reolink NVR 5mp 8 channel camera system. With some channels empty, I eventually plan to fill them. Can other POE brand cameras work with this NVR? I need a few cameras with a wider angle lens, maybe even a 180° for fun. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, James
