Just wondering if there is a way to separate image creation to be only for detection of a person / vehicle / pet, and not generate a saved image for each video file that is created. The way it works now if i want to save video and images i get hundreds of images with nothing in them as it was generated when the video file was created as well as when something was detected.so scanning through the images for every say 100 images generated only 2- 5 were from detection.this seems so weird to me... why would anyone need to generate an image for the first frame of a video file? in hopes to what catch something at random? Not really the intent of a security system in my opinion anyway... if anyone knows of a way to do this or has an update on a new version of the software that can allow for this function it would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.
@reolink-daisy Only used one Reolink camera and was so impressed with it I bought two more....I now own 3x RLC-842A

I have two PC's almost identical builds that i installed 8.16.10 onto... these are the issues that i am running into.context / System's both using M.2 boot drives which is where the client is installed.Windows 11 Pro on both1 - AMD 5600x CPU's + 5700 XT - 16GB 3200 MT/s2 - AMD 5600x CPU's + 6600 XT - 32GB 3200 MT/sSystem one - first launching the desktop app, the client runs flawlessly, isolating individual camera's, zooming in recordings no issues what so ever... after about 20 - 90 min later / after the system display turns off (NOT sleep mode), seems to be random, moving the mouse to wake the display's, the client looks like it is running fine until you attempt to isolate one of the camera's. This is when the image will distort and stretch, zoom function no longer works and the image will freeze. you are also unable to view recorded footage.System two - 100% identical trigger that causes the issue (first launching the desktop app, the client runs flawlessly, isolating individual camera's, zooming in recordings no issues what so ever... after about 20 - 90 min later / after the system display turns off (NOT sleep mode), seems to be random, moving the mouse to wake the display's, the client looks like it is running fine). However on the second system, when in split mode viewing multiple camera's at the same time the notification indicators, People, Cars, Pets start flashing uncontrollably even with nothing detected in the frame. Isolating any individual camera does not result in distorted / stretched images like on the first system, but it does not allow for zooming within the image or to switch and review playback of footage. Eventually teh image will freeze and stop live playback. If i select the "X" to close the application it will still be running in the background (Viewable in task manager). I will need to end the process before i can start the application again.. upon ending task and starting the desktop client, there are no known / visible issues, it runs just fine.
The only thing that i can find that fixes this is to use any version before 8.16.08.I can screen capture the issue on both systems if the devs would like to see what is occurring... just reach out and i'll be happy to provide logs as well.
Anyone test out the new version of the desktop app yet? i had some issues with the 8.16.08 version so didn't want to update to this new one until i see if anyone else has tested it out yet.
I am curious why most companies want to be so vague when it comes to firmware updates?"Optimize related network protocols and some known bugs" These devices are not just a $10 item picked up for fun... They are security camera's designed to keep property safe.Would it not be better to outline exactly what was updated so that people are more informed? I personally would like to know what bugs were corrected as people may not have been aware that the device they chose to keep their home protected had an issue with a specific feature or a bug were it would just not record for an unknown reason. The only other thing I find with this latest description is that they "optimized network protocols (cool) i appreciate that but why put "and some known bugs". this indicates that they are optimizing the bugs and not correcting them. just a little confusing. why optimize a bug? to make it more effective at being a problem?
I have been waiting for this feature for well over a year now... i have had to use e-mail notifications just to get a screenshot sent to me... even my old cheap as &$#* ezviz camera sent a snapshot with push notification.
@nickburt218 I have the same issue. I have found that if you open an individual stream then go back to the multi view the cameras are in sync again. You can also close the client and Re open but it is faster to just go switch back and forth.
I currently have 3x RLC-842A camera's. I have them recording 24/7 both to the SD card in the camera's as well as backing up to my offsite location.my issue that i am running into is if you set the app to record 24/7 in the schedule it does not allow for alerts to take a screenshot. it literally takes a screenshot for every knew video entry. Now i understand why it does this. I am just wondering if you can separate the screenshot aspect of the recordings to be based off alert triggers? It is quite tedious to go through video footage vs just flipping through some screenshots when an alert is detected.
This is a really nice feature and have been using it since it launched... Just wondering if this will be coming to the desktop client? Also will it be possible to have the function to not highlight stationary objects like parked cars. maybe a selection to highlight moving vehicles only but keep tracking moving / stationary pets / people?
